I think the staff says we'll play you in the same way we play Ayo and you can just take his spot in the spotlight. Seems like an easy sell to me and I can't see why he wouldn't want to come on board and play in a great league, for a great school (mom's a teacher, so she'll value a UI education) in front of all your friends and family in both Peoria and Chicago.

Yep. What could go wrong? lol

Miller doesn't have Ayo's elite pace and is not as good defensively. That said, he's damn good (borderline elite) and we *need* him. He's definitely a better shooter (out of HS).

Agreed, by his own admission, he is a scorer, who had been working on his handling of the ball. If you had to do a comparision maybe Nunn coming out of HS. He is a better ball handler than Nunn was at the same stage imo, however, I think they are comparable scorers, Nunn was more of a slasherm where as Miller is a shooter. Both high output coming from HS.

That quote came out a couple weeks ago, right? IMHO, he's basically writing Illinois off while praising Antigua. I think it's safe to assume Curbelo is a no-go, but maybe one of our insiders can refute that. *shrug*

Gotta get KK then, I would love that kid with AM/CH/SR class...that would be a HomeRun class!

Surprised that no one is against signing a +200 ranking in Hawkins. Just from watching the clips don't see that ranking and think he is a good recruit but know many people are valuing rankings.

A 6'10" guy with a good outside touch is a nice thing to have. He's only 200 lbs or so now, but our staff will get some weight on him in short order.

He was one of a few picked to be in the top 150 soon, rivals I think.

Yeah, recruiting is fluid, but having the Irvins there sure sounds like a winner to me, like it was with Ayo. Add in that he is very close to DW and also played HS ball with Ayo and ASU is our only competition, I love our chances.

ASU, Arizona, Kansas, Louisville are all still in it. That being said, there are absolutely no excuses for not landing Miller. BU needs to get it done. :shield:

Need to get Hawkins and Miller locked up in the fall.

Time to get ahead so that you can focus on a couple of guys for 2020 in the spring but really shift focus to 2021.

Tired of seeing the staff playing catch up in the spring with the current class when it comes to recruiting. They're getting solid pieces, but that fall signing period is an advantage that I wish the staff would use more.

What position do we think Hawkins would play if he were to come to UI? My only knowledge of him is a 2 minute highlight video in which he seemed to not be afraid to handle the ball outside and drive. He seemed to play in the post just because of his height, not because that's where he likes to be or his fit is. Until he fills out I see his as a 3, his lateral quickness may not be there yet, but the length could help him recover when guarding quicker players. Once he fills out he could easily be a stretch 4. A lineup of Miller (making a big assumption), Griffin, Hawkins, Giorgi, and Kofi 2 years from know would have some length/size to it, granted idk if any of those players really work as a facilitator, I'm just spit-balling.

3 imo

Plus one of the bigger advantages not listed by you is that with a really good Fall class (Miller/Hawkins minimum) then any potential late bloomers in spring should want to play with those guys...it can only help.

Meh, opinions here are all over the map. His offer list is pretty solid, and he's got crazy length. If he jumps more than a couple inches, it's in the cylinder. On the downside, he hasn't grown into his body and will need a lot of calories, strength work and other development. Definitely going to take some time. I'm always concerned about durability with kids that slight. Decent pick-up overall, and not uncommon for programs to invest in a kid who'll need time to develop.

It seems to me we could be pretty deep at the 3-4 in that time frame. It will be interesting to see how some of our taller players like Verdunk will be used. Depending upon his development and some of the other new players, I could see him spotting some time at the 4, especially if we have injuries or get into foul trouble. I could easily see a redshirt if transfers allow it. As others have said though, we need to lock down Miller.

We need a facilitator soon. KK, or Curbelo your table is ready!

Please excuse my ignorance, but I am drawing a blank on who KK is, and don't really want to wade through page after page of whether Underwood calls recruits. Help?

Is contact with him allowed while he is in HS? I.e. Can Fletch give him a development plan?
I have seen many athletes, in other sports (baseball/football) get a development plan from the strength coach 3-6 mos prior to enrollment.
