Pretty sure most people on here would critique the Globetrotters.
Well, their margin of victory would have been consistently greater had they run up-tempo and pushed the ball more. Lackadaisical play made those games much closer than necessary. Also, they were generally undisciplined. Way too much time spent on weaves far out on the perimeter that did nothing to generate open looks.

Really happy I’m not the only person who saw it this way. I saw it for the first time like 10 minutes ago and didn’t walk away as disgusted as I thought i would based on what I read.
Since I’m honest...

I watched it when it happened and thought it was terrible.

If I woulda rewatched it yesterday, I’d have thought it was really bad.

Watching it today, well I can live with it. Lol

GO ILLINI!!!

I honestly don't like either. The foot stomp didn't feel as dangerous to me. I also found it to be less "heat of the moment" than AG. I was watching that game and he was getting chippier well before this. He also took one swing didn't connect as well and went back for the big shot on him, so he was searching it out to me.

Neither was good, and AG also is a guy who was tough to cheer for sometimes. I like a pest who may commit a dumb foul (DaMonte and Lucas Johnson types), not so much guys like this, Greyson Allen or the Teddy guy from Nebraska this year who are just releasing frustration in a dangerous way.
My favorite AG moment is his technical against Missouri. I think it’s okay to have one or two guys like that if you can keep them out of real trouble.

Hamlin and possible BVD are moving on. Lieb? Not sure. Lets see if he can put muscle on in the offseason.
I hope Lieb sticks around. Seems like a classic developmental guy that is just too thin at the moment. But, he's really tall and long and seems to understand the game pretty well (based on limited court time). A "Wisconsin guy" that we've always lamented not getting. IF he can put on muscle, he could be a great backup big down the road. Plus I think there's a lot of intangible value for having some guys that stick around, develop within the system, and help the new recruits/transfers learn the ropes quickly.

Would hate for us to get Chet Holmgren, he's too skinny and too tall for us and the B10. Let Gonzaga have those scrawny sticks

On a potentially anecdotally positive note, my good friend is a huge Tennessee fan and he said Payne was extremely apologetic afterward and that he thinks it's all good.

I'm not defending the kid's actions, but I'm willing to give him a chance to prove himself before I judge him harshly.
Am a Tennessee alum (Illinois fan by birth). UF and UT is always a gritty game. Take the elbows with a grain of salt.

To all, don’t judge this kid’s talent based simply on his numbers. Mike White, the coach at Florida, is an absolute idiot of a coach. Recruits well but can’t develop anyone. I’ve actually never seen a coach do less with more than him. Just think, Andrew Nembhard just got there a year ago and left for Gonzaga to get away from Mike White.

Tyty's sucker punch in the handshake line ranks right up there!!(y)
With TyTy and Payne's recruitment/transfer, can Underwood please stop the "I want character, not characters" narrative? C'mon now. Kids or not, there are hundreds that have not pulled the shenanigans these 2 have.

Two years ago we were recruiting Colin Castleton hard. He went to Michigan. Colin went up against the freshman Kofi and in 3 minutes had picked up 2 fouls and Kofi scored 6 points. Unimpressive Soph year. He left the BIG for Florida where he had a solid season and without Kofi or Garza life was wonderful. Sometimes the stars just don't align at one spot but a change of address does a world of good. This Payne addition could be a sleeper but it is a no brainer that it is a good move.
