Bit of throwback recruiting news, but pretty frustrating to hear Caris Levert detail his recruitment. He committed to Groce at OhioU, but when Groce came to Illinois, he wouldn't return Levert's calls anymore and an assistant told him they didn't think he could play in the B1G.
Yet they thought Jaylon Tate was B1G caliber.

WRT point guard, Epps is it (in the '22s). Then, we land Fears (hopefully). Needless to say, Epps' style is radically different than Curbelo's. But darn effective too. Becoming a good distributor is going to be a litmus test. FWIW, I'm betting on Epps.

And if Papi returns, that's the kind of problem we want.

If no one leaves at the end of the 22 season except DMW, TF, probably Kofi and who else will leave. It looks like 3-4 schoolies for 22. It seems as if we offer a player a week. We will need another big, a stretch 4 and a pt. guard I would assume.
Every coach in the country is going to recruit assuming they are losing 2-4 players prematurely. I'm guessing we have at least 5 rides for the '22 class.

Can we not also flood this thread with tweets of other teams offering scholarships to people we are recruiting? Lol
Oher teams offering the same players we are is BIG news! North Kentucky/Texas Southern and Tennessee Tech we don't worry too much about...Baylor is a WORRY! We are trying to get into Texas and they are trying to get back at us! BIG news!

If we freak out every time a target gets another offer then this site would enter a whole new level of meltdown territory. Bottom line is that if we are going after good players they're going to get lots of other high major offers, full stop. It's nothing to get worked up about.

Unless you want Tim Beckman style recruiting.

Illinois may have an inside track on 5-star 2023 Kwame "KJ Evans, Jr. Coach Chester Frazier may have an inside track as he is from the same hometown (Baltimore). Evans recently transferred to Montverde Academy.

Baltimore is a big city. Not sure how being from the same major city gives someone the inside track on a highly sought player.

How many coaches have we had from Chicago, again?

Looks like one and done unless rules change and then he is direct to NBA. What a talent!

Thought it was pretty good. What did you take issue with?
One thing that stood out, his analysis of Payne coming here thinking that he was going to be a starter, and Kofi taking the starting spot back. It was reported that Payne came here to replace Giorgi.

I'm the last person to ever defend anything Groce but Levert was from Columbus and tOSU wanted no part of him. Gotta give Levert's props for putting in the work but I doubt anyone here was would have been thrilled had Groce brought a 160 lbs Ohio signee with him who barely saw the floor as a freshmen.
