Landing Dawson would be the missing piece to the puzzle, would be a game changer (literally)
Just fanning the flames - honestly not sure but like some have said its between us and UNC.Guessing or substance? I'm hoping it's true. Not Tyler great but good all the same./s
If the rumors are true that Garcia wants to play for a winner, how does our roster stack up against UNC’s?D. Garcia will fit nicely. Already have shown that our guards will feed the big man. Garcia plays like a stretch 4+. Can hit the 3 and dribble and drive. Believe there would be enough minutes for Garcia, Payne, Grandison and Coleman H to split minutes at the 4/5 spots.
Damonte likely wouldn't see time at the 4, but at the 3. Add Plummer, Curbs, Frazier and Hutch...this is a pretty solid rotation. Possibly see Verdonk and one of the freshnen SG when there is foul trouble or blow outs.
Wonder if deputy dog being gone and a new coach in place will factor in to his decision ???If the rumors are true that Garcia wants to play for a winner, how does our roster stack up against UNC’s?
Here we’ve got an AA caliber PG, shooters galore, and plenty of minutes to be had at the 5 or 4. I know UNC always has a bunch of talent but would hope we stack up favorably.

How much NIL $ would the NCAA allow him to get paid for that?Do whatever it takes. Heck, rename boneyard Creek after him.
48% - from the field
That 36% is better than anyone we had last year isn't it?48% - from the field
78% - from the line
36% - from 3 (an amazing stat!)
D. Williams...That 36% is better than anyone we had last year isn't it?
I forget what that guy who went to LSU shot.
Yep. According to sports-reference, he ended the season shooting a 3P% of 54.7%. Not too shabby. And also good enough to raise his Illinois career 3P% to 36.6%!D. Williams...
Garcia said that after committing to Marquette that his other 2 top schools were IU and Arizona. All 3 of those now have new coaches.Wonder if deputy dog being gone and a new coach in place will factor in to his decision ???
I persist in believing Kofi is not 100% gone. If we land Garcia and Kofi returns, can Garcia play the 4?
Correct in that Kofi is gone, but to answer the other question, Garcia is a 4 that can play 5.
are you suggesting a JCL-type causality?Garcia said that after committing to Marquette that his other 2 top schools were IU and Arizona. All 3 of those now have new coaches.
Would be an amazing team with that kind of addition. The backcourt should easily be one of the best in the conference. Another weapon of that caliber in the front court makes the team that much harder to match up against.Do whatever it takes. Heck, rename boneyard Creek after him.
Just to clarify, I think Kofi is gone, but I am allowed to dream otherwise until July 7. In those dreams, landing Garcia as a 5 but moving him to the 4 to make room for Kofi is a very pleasant fantasy indeed. It remains within the realm of the possible. I wouldn't bet on it, but it is possible.Correct in that Kofi is gone, but to answer the other question, Garcia is a 4 that can play 5.
Sure. But, if I'm Garcia, I'd think long and hard before committing to us before the opt out deadline. From a fan perpective though, a 5/4 rotation of Kofi, Payne, Dawson and Hawkins would be unreal (Grandison or Melendez if we're playing smaller ball).Just to clarify, I think Kofi is gone, but I am allowed to dream otherwise until July 7.
