Just thinking that Dickinson scored 6 pts against Kofi and Castleton transferred to Florida (probably 3rd in depth) and beat Payne for the starting position. So we are either going to be greatly disappointed by Omar or we still have great Bigs coaches. Hoping for the latter but not expecting Kofi11.

Juco BIG MAN ("Big Ticket") decommits from Kansas LETS GET ON THE PHONE! WE NEED THIS GUY! (BANGER CITY!)
I'm an insider. His coach at John A. Logan college is related to a close family member of mine.

I actually have no insightful information about him.

You reminded me of a funny memory - in 1983 the Illini football team went 10-1, sweeping the Big 10 at 9-0, and appeared (barely) in the Rose Bowl. That one regular season loss was to Missouri (by 10), who happened to lose to Kansas that year by 10, who happened to lose to Northern Illinois by 3. My buddies who went to NIU always (jokingly) insisted that NIU would have easily handled the Illini by several touchdowns.

Creating a trail of single events isn't often terribly useful for predicting future events.

This is actually the most intricate and dependable fan logic known to exist.

"That team beat your team, and this team beat that team, and my team beat that team, so my team would beat your team."

Anyone expecting someone we bring in to be able to fill Kofi's shoes is going to be wildly disappointed. I don't remember the last time we had a 1st Team all NCAA Center. We've had a lot of great guards over the years, but not many truly dominant big guys. Very few players in the history of NCAA basketball could match his strength, size, and athleticism combination.
Our style of play is going to be wildly different. We just have to hope the pieces fit together in a way that allows us to still win most games. I think that is possible, but we are going to need to win by playing team basketball, not relying heavily on 2 All-Americans. Omar needs to fit in, do his job defensively, and give us some protection in the paint. I have hope he will be challenged for minutes by another transfer after the NBA scouting cycle. He can be a good player, but he won't be Kofi. That was a once in a generation experience.

Didn’t we all learn the transitive property in like 2nd grade?

I agree! Kofi was a once every decade center. I truly hope he gets drafted and can make a great life for his family. I think in an Underwood system the center position will be by committee, expected to rim protect, and expected to run the floor. We rode Kofi's wide shoulders because we had him. But, I don't think that is the system that wins in the NCAA tourney.

Who are the 4 guys we picked up in the portal? Payne, the Utah guard, who are the other 2?
