VT just lost Durr. Coming with Frazier?

Id be careful with this as some in this board were already hurt about chin and OA leaving and probably would have exploded if any of our guys left with them.

That said, if a scholly guy transfers out, I could see us going after him.

Question for the board, I’ve never seen Payne play. Is he a good enough shooter/handler that he could play a stretch 4 next to a true center for stretches? Or is he purely a C himself?

Pure center

Durr’s stats are somewhat underwhelming. A 7-0 who shoots 41% and averages a 3 attempt a game while shooting 20% from there. He did shoot 49% and 51% in previous years, but, again, not great for a 7-0. He does seem to rebound well though.

He doesn’t play much, which might tell us something.

Payne played more than Giorgi.
I like Payne a lot, super underrated player who understands his role and does it efficiently. He fits the style of play BU wants a bit more than Kofi, but obviously you do all you can to fit Kofi's style of play when you have him.

Edit: Not exactly the thread to do it but I haven't publicly stated my like of Payne.

Think he stays 3 years. 4 if his outside shot doesn’t improve.
Could be. Thing is, if he's projected as a first rounder (which is very possible, IMO), he most likely is gone. Yeah, there's a possibility who could come back, with the aim of getting into the lottery. Goes without saying that he's going to have to show improvement, especially on his outside shot.

He’ll be here at most 3 years

curbelo will likely follow what ayo did and stay for three years
I believe he would want to play with Bass and Storr before he leaves. Plus, look at Erie lineup we will have in 22 with the firepower. Shooters all over the floor, wings who can drive. We will be fighting for a Natty again with this team.

I think the Curbelo talk is premature. A little strength at the rim along with an outside shot, and for sure he's a first rounder. But until he shows he can shoot at a decent clip from beyond the arc, I would expect he stays. That said, if he gets confident with an outside shot, and people say he hits them in practice, it's hard to see him staying. He's a little undersized for a prototypical NBA PG, but his vision/passing and creativity are off the charts.

Omar Payne is an interesting player. On the plus side, he's a hard nosed rebounder for his frame, great length, scrappy around the basket, efficient in scoring. Weaknesses are so-so defender, terrible FT shooter. Had that ugly loss of his temper against Tennessee. Top-50 hs player that came in behind a 5 star stud and has performed well as a reserve. Has improved, but needs more strength. Be interesting to see how the staff uses him. If Kofi goes pro, he's going to be tested IMO, and we're going to notice the drop-off in defense. I hope he's able to step up if he's our starting center, but I'm tempering expectations, personally.

I have no clue what to make of practice reports, but I think there have already been some comments about Belo drilling 3s in practice. I guess it just hasn't translated into games yet.

I'm not sure... but the commits showing in this article... Is this correct? I hadn't heard all these players committed already... I know of Bass and Storr... but the rest I wasn't aware of.
The commits portion is recruits with an Illinois offer that have committed anywhere. Column on the right has the school.
