Huge news for our recruiting.

whooshDo you really think an NBA team is going to draft a former div 3 player with injury history?
Whoosh sounds like swoosh...Hutch has a Nike endorsement deal in place already?whoosh

Heard the all-powerful irreplaceable OA is talking him into going to Kentucky instead of the NBA.Not to be doom and gloom, but there's a real possibility Hutch goes straight to the NBA and never suits up for the orange and blue.
Probably overdue and inevitable, and will work largely to the benefit of the top couple of dozen programs........BUT the handful of top programs with the wealthiest 'Boosters' will be able to game this system to funnel serious money to recruits and players. Any concept of a 'level playing field' in recruiting will cease to exist. Not sure if this has already been posted: https://bleacherreport.com/articles...-push-ncaa-to-approve-nil-rules-before-july-1

Maybe something about this size? There’s also grumbling of a Hutch statue in front of State Farm Arena.
When they're touted as the next Michael Jordan, yes.
I've heard Michael Jordan referred to as "the first Austin Hutcherson"When they're touted as the next Michael Jordan, yes.
I think that your sarcasm meter is broken.Do you really think an NBA team is going to draft a former div 3 player with injury history?
That ceased a looonnnnnnnggggggg time ago. There's no level playing field when certain programs are playing by different rules than others and (largely) not being penalized for it.Probably overdue and inevitable, and will work largely to the benefit of the top couple of dozen programs........BUT the handful of top programs with the wealthiest 'Boosters' will be able to game this system to funnel serious money to recruits and players. Nobody's grumbling, the sound you're hearing is enraptured contentment. The statue will be 20 feet tall and made of pure light, so all can bask in the glory of the Hutch. There’s also grumbling of a Hutch statue in front of State Farm Arena.
I agree Illinois will do well under the new system, but, coupled with the new transfer rule, I see a bidding war not only for recruits, but for transfers after the freshman year What kind of offers $$$$$. might a player like Curbelo be seeing right now? That ceased a looonnnnnnnggggggg time ago. I think it will be great for the schools a notch below the blue bloods but with massive, rabid fan bases/alumni networks, i.e., most B1G schools, Texas A&M, etc. All the better for a school -- like Illinois -- that meets that criteria but is a basketball school first and foremost. I'm honestly having trouble thinking of a school that might benefit from this more than Illinois (for basketball), but that's probably just my bias. You raise a good point though -- I'm sure schools will figure out a way to game the system. Might have loads of purchased jerseys just sitting in storage somewhere or NFTs going for ridiculous prices.
This is why EJ is hesitating to pull the trigger.Nobody's grumbling, the sound you're hearing is enraptured contentment. The statue will be 20 feet tall and made of pure light, so all can bask in the glory of the Hutch.

OD'ed on Larry Bird puns........in intensive care as we speak.........Anybody know where illiniboss33 has been? Kinda want to hear what he knows on recruiting he was right an awful lot and now he is M.I.A .. maybe he was O.A or chin???!
Plus the fact he might have family looking in.Personally I think these Hutch jokes have run their course. If I were him I'd be pi$$ed that my name has been turned into a punchline. Let's just wait and see how he pans out.
Hopefully Hutch has thicker skin than you. Anytime the media hypes up something that people have not seen yet, this is bound to happen. These jokes are harmless. I think he and his family will survive.Personally I think these Hutch jokes have run their course. If I were him I'd be pi$$ed that my name has been turned into a punchline. I don't think we're talking about the same person I don't remember ever reading a Larry Bird pun from himOD'ed on Larry Bird puns........in intensive care as we speak.........
Dr. Hutch is taking care of him......
