Kevin Samuel, 6-11, 255, from TCU entered the portal. Averaged 8.8/7.8 with 1.7 bpg this year. His stats previous year were a bit better with 10 ppg, 8.4 rpg and 2.7 bpg. Strictly a low post guy and even a worse free throw shooter than Kofi. Don’t remember seeing him play this year.

To be fair, you did say small town and then people started listing players from Metro East, Peoria, etc lol so not all of these truly qualify
True. (and thank you)
Bruce Douglas for example, is from Quincy(around 40k) If you live in Chicago that’s SUPER small. To me its a medium sized town...

Still, I should have framed it much better than I did.

I feel like all we get are down state, small town kids to come here. It’s about time time we finally get some city kids to come here.

That...sounds less than promising

He’s a big body center who has shot over 64% from field for his career and blocks more shots than Kofi did. Obviously he’s not Kofi, but given AC’s penchant and skill at feeding the low post, he would likely up his points total. Again, I’ve not seen him play, but doesn’t seem like a terrible option. He combined with Payne would make a pretty good center rotation.

We’re bout due to have a small town, down-state kid go to Champaign and develop into a real stud.

We haven’t seen much of that these last 100 years or so. Andy
Kauffmann and ???
Johnny Orr
Harry Combes
Andy Phillip
And, of course, the great Bill Rucks!!

Agree. If we can get two athletic post bangers that would be a nice defensive line to have. As I recall, at Baylor most of the scoring came from the 1 to 3 positions and the 4 and 5 did all the mop up, blocks, rebounds and dunks. 😬

Yes, but is he from a small town downstate?...If not, I guess you're on the wrong thread now...

Also, I guess "small town downstate" now means anywhere in Illinois outside the Chicago area. 🤷‍♂️

I've only been on the forum for about 6 years, but this coaching carousel boredom paired with the Adam Miller thread is the most brutal Loyalty stretch I can remember. The Meyers Leonard post is the icing on the cake.
Not to mention the Loyola game!
