He’ll be back

Do we want him back?

IF so in what role? Certainly not the lead - AC has that role.

Will he or his "camp" accept that? for another year, perhaps two?

My impressions, from the presser that Coach gave, the boat has sailed. If Miller decides to come back that is a major victory for Coach.

No other way to put it.

Even if hes not the main guy with the ball in his hands, Miller should have plenty of opportunities this year to have the ball in his hands if he works on his game.

They were roommates this season, so it should be fine.

Not a roommate issue. It is what the Coach assigns a role to a player. Coach has stated publicly that AC will lead - in short AC's team, AC replaces Ayo

Can Miller or his "camp" digest that?

Talent wise it would be what it is.

Relationship wise it will change. IMHO immensely

You have come in to the conversation late. The public statements you are speaking of were stated after Miller entered the transfer portal—which has been discussed on here as nauseam.

Also, BU said he wants AC to be A leader. This year he called Ayo, Trent, DMW leaders all year. I think many are making too much of the whole “leader” thing.

Hope you are right. Do not see it that a way

Would like the talent back. Not the politics - although Coach did mention it is what it is (they hold the cards, don't have to tell us anything, etc)

Chemistry could be a problem. Miller - the player, not his camp - needs to understand that. It is the player that is playing on a TEAM, not his silly "camp" or Mom (with due respect)

2020-2021: Tyty Washington, Jordan Nesbitt, Brandon Weston, David Jones, and Bryce Hopkins
Name of guys at some point in time before they committed, people were confident we might get. Who on this list, within ~48 hours of a commit were you still being sold was coming here?

Edit: It's funny how PAID recruiting services speculate guys will probably come here for months, change their crystal ball last minute and no one bats an eye. But people who offer insight on a free message board are scrutinized.

May be ok with you ....but a statement something like what I posted would go along way in getting AM back in good graces with some Illini faithful....just saying
It would be super ok with me!

I wouldn't care about the "Illini faithful". Some of those same "faithful" have been trashing Miller for making a personal decision. He owes them nothing. It's entertainment.

The only recruiting guys that I follow are national dudes that are rarely ever wrong because they only make a pick when they've been informed of a decision. Guys like Jeff Borzello.

And I very much agree with you that 247 really should change the way they do Crystal Balls. The first pick those guys make, should be the only pick they ever are allowed to make. And then we'd see a true correct % over who is right and who is wrong. Its such lame business model for insider guys (and I'm sure all teams have them, not just Illinois) that make picks for the home team to hype up subscribers, then change their pick when it becomes clear a player isn't coming (like Piper and EJ Liddell). Piper changes his pick to Ohio State from Illinois, and that still gets to be seen as a correct pick. Not in my eye.

If you give a guy 1 pick to either be right or wrong, he's only going to pull the trigger when he's sure. And in that way, the picks themselves would be seen are more credible anyway.

Or do it with a weighted scoring system where they get more points for being right early. Like those NTN trivia games at bars (are those still a thing?).

Fringe top 100 guys rarely have an outsized impact their freshman year. The data supports that argument, no matter how optimistic you want to be.
Im not sure what your definition of outsized impact mean but Ivey, Murray and Edey all made B10 Freshman team and were all 90 or higher with Murray and Edey being in the 300s. I definitely think Melendez can make an impact next year and be in conversation for B10 all freshman team.
