Curbelo and Melendez are US citizens, but when they've played in international competitions, it's been for Puerto Rico, which has its own federations in Olympic sports. That makes them international players. (Don't know whether Plummer has actually played for PR, but he's eligible to do so.)

These are the brains of this organization. This is some fine work here young manI was actually with a friend at a PR summer league game in San Juan last night, and he said exactly the same thing. Curbelo has a spot waiting for him on the Puerto Rican national team. Basketball is huge here, and you can't understate how important the Puerto Rican national team is to the basketball fans. If their team beat the US in international competition I think it might set off a ticker tape parade. JJ Barea was sitting court side. Curbelo may be his heir apparent.
In my semi-professional opinion, Puerto Ricans think of themselves as Puerto Ricans first, then as Americans.
The Tourism board would like to remind you that the island is awesome. If you like food, drinks, beaches, and a history going back 500 years.
