Boom! No insider... just felt like posting this.

Feel like this is a super big weekend for us. We seem to make the most sense as a landing spot for Rodgers, as both UM and AL seem to have locks on as good/better prospects at the same position. Time to lock it down.

Why? I liked Kipper when he was aggressive, he just wasn't too often. Granted just a clip but he looked rather aggressive in it.
His size and style of play! Reminds me of an aggressive Kipper also! I had the same thoughts! I liked Kipper when he played aggressive! I always felt like he never was really able to truly showcase his talent!

DB11 where do you compare Asa Thomas comparably to Schutt and Pence? And are we still in on Thomas? I really like the way he comes out of the ball talking about Thomas.
Pence is the best athlete, Thomas the best shooter, Schutt the best basketball player. Thomas likes the O and B a lot-couldn’t go wrong with either him or Pence. Love the potential of both. Thomas has a Stauskas-like frame.

Probably goes without saying that both are automatic takes. Would we take both? I strongly think so.

I wouldn't say Pence is an automatic take yet... we are still his only P5 offer. Still super early, of course. Would think a lot of it has to do with the natural roster depletion via the portal. Spots are bound to open up every year but we did just take 3 freshmen wings, looking to add another now. Pence and Thomas could end up being a one or the other scenario due to roster construction if we get to that point. Thomas looks like the more proven commodity to this point but again they are just starting their junior years so lots can change.

Re: Asa Thomas and Ty Pence...

I watched a couple highlight videos (1, 2) of Thomas from Under Armour AAU summer 2021 and they didn't convince me that he's a guy who will be effective against better competition. Saw some nice reflexes and spacing, but he looks limited to a spot up shooter role. There's certainly a place for an efficient spot up shooter, but I would wish for a player who has an additional utility. I wonder if Thomas will play for Meanstreets or Mac Irvin in 2022 to face the NYBL competition and/or show off more advanced shot creation in the next year (slash highlight video edited by some recruiting media guy).

Pence, in his 2020-21 high school highlights, (despite facing possibly weaker competition than Thomas faced in his AAU vid) looked the more intriguing player in my eyes. Creative and athletic. Reminded me of Doug McDermott. Couldn't tell if he has the shot that McDermott had.

Both of them still HS juniors so let's see.

From what I've heard, Thomas is more than a spot up shooter. Good news is that staff has time to figure that out.

Who expected a Rodgers commitment? MSU offered him more than 2 years ago. He has an OV there in October and I fully expect him to take it. If this weekend (and our recent full court press) has him recalibrating, that's about the best we could reasonably hope for.
