Don’t think Winfield was involved at all. Clyde Turner from Champaign was. Thought Brewer was a by-stander. Turner was kicked off team - Brewer not. Winfield was added to the team for depth and was a pretty good player, if I remember right. He then led the Gophers to the College World Series title game pitching and hitting.
Ron Behagen and Corky Taylor were suspended for the rest of the year. Turner started the sequence with a hard intentional foul on OSU's Witte. Brewer, Turner and Winfield were all involved but not punished. Winfield came off the bench to join in a group(including fans) that were pummeling another player. According to witnesses Winfield landed five punches to the face. Many more suspensions if this were to happen today. Ugly.

Some might not remember this player....it's been a few years back....he reminds of a player we wanted bad.....Jalen Brunson! He had a fairly decent career....he's having a good game against the Bulls as I post. Could Epps compare to him?
Epps is way more of a scorer than Brunson

New topic: If AC blows up this year and goes into the draft, who's the future at PG?

Holy s**t if Epps turns out to be a better scorer than Brunson......because he was pretty damn good at Villanova.
Also, believe Brunson scored like 55 against Whitney Young (led by lotto pick Jahlil Okafor) in the state playoffs. Brunson could definitely score esp at the high school/college level.

Brunson was a big, big, big-time scorer in H.S. But what made him so good in college was his tenacity. His intensity is off the charts. Not sure about Epps, but I see some of that in S. Harris. Also see it in the videos I've seen of Rodgers - he just constantly comes at you on both sides of the ball.

Oh yeah I remember that game quite vividly.....that's the (supposedly) infamous "middle finger" game where everyone associated with the IHSA got their panties in a big fat wad because Brunson apparently looked like he was flipping off the referees as he was exiting the end of the game. Then the s**t hit the fan right after the game where the IHSA threatened to hold him out of the 3rd Place Game that evening and the Stevenson head coach lost his mind and threatened to boycott the game if they held him out. Something to that effect....but it got messy and almost ruined what was a spectacular State Semifinal game and an all-time performance in IHSA state history by Brunson.

So yeah....I hope like hell that Epps is like Brunson in any way, shape or form. Brunson is an legend in this state! I'll curb my enthusiasm about Epps just a bit, solely because Brunson was a 5 star, Mr. Basketball and Burger Boy AA in high school. Solely judging by his ranking alone, I don't think Epps is quite there. But I've seen some clips of his game and love everything about his style of play. He will likely backup Curbelo next year, or start if he bolts for the NBA.
