Lets Go Time GIF by NETFLIX

Heard there is still a possibility he could sign early... Which would mean by the 17th.

I mostly agree that Westbrook is the more explosive athlete, but if you think the contrary opinion is worthy of that gif you're probably guilty of forgetting how amazing D. Rose was before his injury problems. He was absolutely ridiculous.

wow...plenty of broken ankle bones and jockstraps on the court......Rose was a superstar.....reminds me of what Barry Sanders did on the FB field ....fake , double fake and he gawn.......

Rose being only 6'2" and punishing guys a foot taller than him was MORE than impressive......wow

Nope - down to us and MSU.

If it were up to Ty he would commit to us tomorrow but his camp is telling him to slow down and take his time.

TIFWIW

I feel like we never fare well in these recruitments. Ty wants to, but his camp says wait. Don't fault the kid for waiting, but it's one of those recruitments where I feel like you need to just wake me up if he signs.

Is his camp's hesitancy to see how the season/roster plays out or to see what other schools might become interested after the initial signing period?

I maybe understood camps telling a kid that wanted to commit to ILL to "wait" when we were bad, but i think we are past this now. If you are being told to wait to commit to a program that you love that looks to be in position to be a top 10 program moving forward and at least in the immediate future, you are getting bad advice

Sometimes it's the recruit that wants to sign for us and his "camp" pressures him to go elsewhere (Whitmore/Corhen). Except when the recruit's family wants Illinois but the recruit himself wants to go elsewhere (Bryce Hopkins). Either we have terrible luck with conflicted families, or a penchant for post hoc rationalization.

Agree. Still not quite understanding any objections any respective camp could have with our program at this point. Most BIG wins last 2 years. I would put our player development against any program in the country (Coleman Hawkins!?!). It’s early on NIL but we are a basketball crazy school and probably the top draw in central IL with a chance to tap into Chicago and St Louis markets too so have to at least be competitive. What’s rubbing people the wrong way?

I think we focus on this “our program is great, why wouldn’t you want to jump on”. MSU is great too. He has great options. Also, MSU has more right to be sour than us because they’ve been on him forever. You can apply that same logic. “Why wouldn’t he want to jump on MSU”.
We’re not special. There’s plenty of dragged out recruitments out there
In the end, we have 0 idea what’s important to his camp in this recruitment.

Might be more about what the roster will look like next year. Is Grandison still on the roster? Kofi? Hutch? What does Kofi’s replacement look like?

Could just be family wanting him closer.
