Eric Gordon, the gift that keeps on giving 15 years later. We are really already worrying about a kid who just committed to us decommitting based on absolutely nothing other than the fact he's really, really good? If Gordon never happened, I don't think we'd be concerned about Morez.
Decommits of really really good players happen and it's not exactly infrequent. Just ask Izzo about Emoni Bates.

Portal for an immediate Kofi replacement. None of the prep big guys are ready to play immediately
Last good transfer big we had was jack ingram
All the others have been mush or barely serviceable.

Mike Thorne looked to be a real force before he got injured. Mclaurin played his role nicely.

Not every transfer has to average 15 and 7 as a big man to be labeled a success.
of course not, but the topic was how are we going to address the loss of Kofi. It's going to take more than Ingram or Thorne numbers to do that.

The nabobs would simply fallback to the Louisville PG fiasco. But to your point, our fanbase's flinch quotient is second to none.

I think all anyone is saying is that until a recruit signs there are no guarantees (even at that point there have been instances where things change). The more highly touted a recruit, the more sharks will circle. I don't understand what is so controversial or offensive about someone pointing that out. For sure the commitment puts us in an amazing position but nobody should take that as a guarantee.

That's true of any verbal commitment (and even with a LOI, there are "outs"). It literally goes w/o saying for any commitment, that it's not guaranteed 100%.

Does that mean the Omar is not par for the course? (Shudder to think what would have happened if Kofi did not come back to Illinois)

Also, is Kofi the only one that needs replacement? Would a #4 in-the-pipeline not be a good idea?

(Just thinking aloud)

So...he is one of "those" kids.

He is so far out but...that is top 10 nationally, that is bonafide 5 star prospect IMO, IF he continues to progress. 15? 6'9"? You can already see the ability to harness and think through moves, spins and angles.

I'm the idiot projecting a sophomore in high school. But he reeks of one of the highest ranked players to commit when all said and done. Period.

Maybe Rodgers at the 4? Growth Plates?

What exactly does that mean? He’ll intentionally try and finish up high school early to get to college/nba earlier. I never understood how people graduated high school early since that wasn’t a think when I was there a long time ago. Summer school I assume, but that would clash with AAU.
Yea, this is what runs through my head every time I see this. Is it, "we are so confident in the NBA that we decided to just skip the last uear if HS"?
