Board was high on skills and low on his mobility and work ethic. Foot injury was probably a big contributor. If he can motivated to work with Fletch he could be a great addition. Certainly give us options.
Which is interesting given Underwood's emphasis on getting guys with motors. Also you also wonder about foot injuries. They frequently don't go away.
Regardless, we know the staff is looking high and low to find a big to join the program.

FWIW I love the way Baylor constructs their roster.

Inciteful insight and a good read, thanks. Fans always have their opinions, so we'll see if the minuses listed here will be a deterrent for him to become the next Illini or not.

Watching the highlights I see shades on Thomas Bryant, maybe even with a little better feel. Can see why he was a high 4 star.

On motor/conditioning, tough to tell. Big guys like that tend to get out of shape a lot faster than the exomorph types (as an example, anyone seen any recent pictures of Caleb Swannigan? Super sad).

So I could see how having a foot injury would be a really big set back for a guy built like that, and he may just feel like he needs a fresh start. If he’s got a good attitude and ready to work, I think Fletch could turn him into an absolute monster ala Swannigan. If not, will probably go the Anthony Higgs route. Given our front court depth, I think he’s worth the gamble and getting him into the program now for essentially a year of intensive work with Fletch sounds about perfect. Hope we get him and hope it works out!

Gotta believe he wouldn't be a take if his motor was actually an issue. That's high on the BU tenants list.

Honestly he might not be a take in the summer but having another warm body and an extra half year to practice is a major bonus.

Well, you should be aware that this could be Baylor constructing/deconstructing that is making him available.

We already have one 4 star HS prospect not really showing well in their first stop on the roster. The results so far are pretty modest. Not sure I want two on the roster.

It should be noted that "so far" includes 5 total games, two of which were against cupcakes and none of which featured a completely healthy supporting cast. Perhaps we should reserve judgement for a bit.

Also, not all 4 star prospects are going to set the world on fire right out of the gate.

Dainja has only played in 3 collegiate games. To compare him to Payne is a reach.

Exactly why I said so far.

I'd rather find an underrated in high school but high performance in college type like R. Rice than a highly rated in high school low performance guy in college like Alex legion.

The Baylor fan forum linked above says Dainja was redshirted as a freshman because he was academically ineligible. How do academics at Baylor compare to those in CU?

Does it matter? The only possibly relevant question might be how academics for athletes compare. And I'm guessing both schools provide very good academic support for student athletes.

There aren't many Jack Ingrams in high profile football and basketball programs.
