Boswell is the next main target along with a possible Morez reclass. More names will come up in the coming months. 22 is done-but we will likely bring in a couple of transfers after the season
22 Scholarships are full with the three freshman and Dainja.

Kofi likely leaves, opening one spot.
Grandison/Hutcherson could come back, taking spot(s).

Pretty much looks like any transfers we bring in in 22 will be in response to guys who transfer out.

Is that a typical amount of lag between decision and announcement? Is it a "let's be sure you're sure" type of thing?

(Curious to better understand the process.)
I will certainly defer to 0440 and others way more knowledgeable than I am, but I would think it varies from situation to situation (different personalities, timing relative to the signing date, etc.), and the fact that Fears is only a Junior means he doesn't need to be in any rush.

If Grandison/Hutcherson came back wouldn't those be the extra covid year and not count toward the scholarship count, like Monte/Frazier?

Really liking the future illini. Epps, Fears, and Harris gives us great ball handling. Podz, Goode, RJ solid at the 2, 3, and possibly 4 spot. Still have vets to lead like Curbello, Payne , Coleman and BBV. Likely not all will remain but tean looka pretty solid in 2 years
Don't forget Dain Dainja

No - that bonus schollie thing was just for 2020-21 grads. Everyone else gets a free year, but they count towards the limit.
The limit is just on actual scholarships, though, right? Conceivably, couldn’t a deal be worked out where some NIL booster money paid for a player’s scholastic expenses? That might reduce the need to use a scholarship on a returning Covid-year player.
