Maybe Boswell wants to reclass to '22 and we didn't have a ride open for him?

Anybody have any insight why Geoff was leading this recruitment and not Chester? Was surprised to see that just based on what positions they coach.
The short video I saw of KB and Alexander talking during his visit to SFC prior to the Northwestern game looked pretty awkward. He's too important of a recruit to let that happen. I know Frazier can't take the lead on all the recruits, but he should of had the lead on KB. I may be mistaken but the optics didn't generate confidence.

He must of had his conversation with Brad and it didn’t go well....or all along he wanted to go to Zona and we were the courtesy visit, not Zona. I’m going to go with the latter because of his comments about the visit. Oh well this stuff happens. Move on to the next one, don’t dwell on it. Let’s go beat the Buckeyes!

....or he was/is down to two schools and was diligent in making what he feels was the best decision for him. Not committing to a school you visit doesn't mean it was just a courtesy.

A picture/video is a moment in time. You can't get the whole feel that way. By your argument, the optics of KB sitting alone at the end of the bench while Arizona warmed up was also awkward and didn't generate confidence. It's not fair to cherry pick in these situations.

We shouldn’t assume this based off one video but I did notice that as well.

Play the game out, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. Win or lose you go through the handshake line like men. Say good things about the competition and your teammates/coaches in the post game press conference. Don't throw anyone under the bus. Then huddle up and figure out what needs to be done better for the next game. It really is that simple to act like a big boy program.

Anything else and you look to the world like a Michigan head coach.

I am one who values the "insiders" info. It makes the board more fun and interesting, if nothing else. If I could make one suggestion, it would be to hold off on the gifs/memes until all visits are taken. Everyone feels good after a visit. After he visited us, the gifs/memes suggested this was a done deal, then as the Arizona visit happened, it went to cautiously optimistic, then it went to "if" he chooses us, followed by the opposite result of the "done deal".

Our insiders want to give us info to appease our thirst, but when it goes south, people get upset, which isn't fair. Those guys bring good info to the group.

I understand it does not look promising right now but he has not committed to Arizona yet. I would at least wait for a committment before I started saying, "woe is me." There is a great class coming in next year and one stud signed in 2024 already. Things look better than they have for Illinois basketball in quite a while. My view is that Boswell is a nice player but we are not talking about Lebron or Michael here. He is not coming in and leading them to a national championship. I think he is a borderline NBA player after 4 years in college. If Illinois misses on him, things will be ok.

This one stings for sure, but we will be fine. Lots of time to secure another great player.

For those still holding out hope, this is looking incredibly similar to the Wake Forest boards back when Ayo committed to us. They wanted to believe and kept finding reasons to hold out hope, but it was over.

I’d love to be wrong and Boswell turns this recruitment around to commit to us, but at this point, I’m good conceding he’s gone and can’t wait to see who BU and crew uncover next!

Hang in there fellow Illini fan and and Illini board poster!! Please take a deep breath and try to remember these few facts.
1. This 21/22 Illini team is special and very talented. Enjoy the ride!!
2. We have an awesome coach in BU and a great staff. Trust in them.
3. Very few of the "insiders" on this board know any more about these recruitments than we do.
4. This recruitment isn't over yet.
5. See fact #1.

ILL!!
The people on this board , that some call insiders, OBVIOUSLY know more than the rest of us do. The reality is “recruiting is fluid”. Nobody really knows what is going on in the mind of a 17 year old from minute to minute. It’s like saying the weatherman is inept when he predicts 6 inches of snow and we get 5.

Assuming KB opts for AZ, it should mean he is not reclassifying. IF so, then it should mean that he (his support) did not buy into the narrative to reclassify. Suspect that was the only hope IL had - reclassify (to 22)

All that based on connecting the various dots out there

Comments?

IL didn't really want him to reclass.....he is only 17 years old and the reclass guys haven't been particularly good. Now they would have taken him in 22' just to get him.
