If all this does come to fruition, we could have a lineup with nobody under 6'6. Shannon, RJ, Goode, Rogers, Kofi...that would be quite the reversal from this season.
That is what we need. Length and athleticism. We really had neither last year but gutsy players who worked their butts off. Unfortunately last year with all this issues we still won the B1G. This next year we will be better, deeper, longer and faster. Love it.

So general consensus is Curbelo entering portal? If it’s true he didn’t attend team meeting I’d say that’s a pretty good sign he’s an unhappy camper

Does anyone know if he was the ONLY one that missed it? I don’t know how attendance normally is at them

Epps 6’2
Clark 6’2
Harris 6’4
Podz 6’5
Rodgers 6’6
Goode 6’7
RJ 6’7
Shannon 6’7
Dainja 6’9
Payne 6’10
Kofi 7+

And maybe Hawkins 6’10 or Missouri guy 6’9?

Maybe 6’5 Murray from LSU or 6’4 Miller returning.

More than acceptable to have a couple 6’2 pgs who can go be your shortest players. With all the added length and athleticism I’d love to go to a switching no middle defense. Our defense has been solid but BU was always a pressure guy as we know. A no-middle allows for a controlled pressure and we’d still be able to ice wing screens.

That said, pack line principles (what we currently do) with length and athleticism is HARD to crack.

St. Peters has shown the value of ball pressure , regardless of height. Their team defense effectiveness is dependent on it. Harris and Epps look like guys that can fit that bill.

That is a large number but to put in a little more perspective, there are over 5,300 NCAA division I players and a fair amount will remain on the same team
That number will likely double before the dust settles.

Gotta be honest, I check the thread anymore looking for the post that states how none of this is gonna happen...I, obviously, hope to be wrong. 🤞

Sometimes the University is its own worst enemy.....SMH
To be fair, the university is not it's own worst enemy when it comes to admissions. It may be athletics' worst enemy, but not the university's as a whole. I do, however, wish they would find a way to 'make exceptions' in some athletic instances. Although, once that door is opened for just athletics, it never gets shut again.

I have not fact checked this, Ant is usually really good!

That makes sense considering probably 80%+ teams start a 6'2" or under guard.

BTW, I didn't mean to say that would be BU's preferred or starting lineup...just another option. With the injuries this year, plus the type of personnel we had, BU didn't have a ton of options to change a game. It sounds like next year, he will.

As someone who works the high school side of the college application process, all schools, even Illinois, already make exceptions. Some (not Illinois) make more than others.

Edit: when compared to non-athletic admissions. They still have to pass the clearinghouse

They do make exceptions, but the university has to have at least some programs those athletes can progress in. Otherwise, you’re making something up, UNC style. I’d rather see unsuccessful teams than see the university sacrifice its academic integrity.

The Beloved cancelled their annual Kiwanis club BB Banquet because could not assure player attendance. Definitely seems to indicate some chemistry issues and significant transfers coming soon in my opinion....... or else you are there for your coach, team, University and community. This is life in the portal.
