Then our kids need to be finding better surgeons, because Marcus Griffin and Damonte Williams never came close to regaining their pre-injury explosiveness. Never saw enough of Crandall to make the same statement, but I believe it's likely true for him too from what I've read.
I'm not convinced our kids aren't in need of a team sports therapist. The mental part of coming back from an injury like that and learning to trust your body again is very, very real. The same could be said for Andre's concussion. The physical ability remains but the confidence might be crap.

BU also mentioned right before Houston that the team would be better off if they didn't have to listen to the media. To me that points out that some of our players can't block out the noise. We might need someone to help with that, regardless of what the roster make up is.

Betting that I understand BU. Belo struggling with confidence. He’ll be fine here. Trent part 2

Not by the coaching staff or the University of Illinois, those are the only people who count. Idiots on twitter or a message board are not the correct measure for how Belo was treated playing BB for the UI. If the measuring stick was social media, then every player would be treated like garbage.
1. Then that is sad. It is sad that the bar is set at “Fans of Illinois, and other places I don’t care about, are asses on Social Media to players. Since everyone is asses, it is now ok. Talk about garbage.

2. Our garbage. The fans of the University of Illinois and OUR garbage, possibly ran off one of the most gifted basketball players in the country. Hiding behind an screen and Social media to say stuff is pathetic and cowardly.

We (fans) made him a polarizing figure. We (fans) we’re so bad that Mike La Tulip had to break down tape to show everyone how truly special he was. We (fans) we’re so bad that he was asked about how FANS perceive him at a press conference at the NCAA Tournament. Pathetic.

Should he be tougher? Maybe. He had flaws. But the fan base let that young man down.

Hope for the best for him and wish it to be in Champaign but seems that may be wishful thinking. But hope whatever team he plays for has less fans who think like this.
Well, you sure took my post the wrong way. I also really want him here very much. My statement was related to his actions. I don’t believe I am a fan “who thinks like this”. My point was I am worried about him as a person. I spent 19 years working in mental health, and as many others on here have pointed out his type of injury is very well known to potentially bring on mood and emotional swings. Sorry you took it as an attack on Andre, furthest thing from what I was trying to imply.

Imagine a world, full of delight, where your primary point guard was .. 6'3", good with the ball, makes great reads, plays extremely hard on defense, ohh and has unlimited range.. I think Adam can be the primary point. Now imagine having 3 of them on the floor and everyone is playing hard and fast, but not quick and chaotic.. Imagine a world..
Is Miller going to be happy not being the primary PG?

Not in the portal so I’d say no
Curious what the rules on that might be. It’s been reported Miller and Underwood have kept in regular contact since he left. Whatever the exact rule says, I understand there are well worn ways around it.

Well I was wrong about this Miller stuff when I said no chance it would happen. Actually a great chance he returns.

Skyy Epps
Miller Ty
RJ Luke
TSJ Coleman
Kofi Dainja

That second team is a top 25 team if they play extended minutes. Our deepest team since….?

How likely is Hawk staying? I thought there was rumors on him transferring too.

Even without him, we could have Ty as backup 4 and Podz or Harris as backup 2. That is still the deepest and most talented roster we have seen in years.

My only concern (and this is nitpicking) is penciling in Skyy and Miller as starters when they both are coming back from ACL injuries (though our guard depth should help), and the lack of a true PG on the team. Also with a loaded roster like that it will be interesting to see how minutes will be allocated to keep everyone happy.

As I catch up on my reading this morning, it seems we still have a long, long way to go before our 13-man 2022-23 scholarship roster is finalized. Presumed locks:

1. Goode
2. Melendez
3. Dainja
4. Epps
5. Harris
6. Rodgers

The other seven still require work and/or confirmation.

The kids Adam's season here were basically prisoners to the game. I'm sure that was hard on a bunch of kids.
Miller doesn't fit that narrative. A 6'5" Ayo length he is not. Personally, I know that attitude is everything and if I see the mood changes here at the house of Paign that I saw as a Freshman, I'd rather he not come. BUT, if his attitude would be all in and steady Eddy, then I am fine with his return.

It’s crazy to think that Luke and RJ are the only 2 members of this years team that we “know” will return. I hope can add Podz to that list and Kofi seems likely, but not certain. I think there are real question marks on everyone else. I also hope decisions are made quickly. It has to be hard on the players to have so much uncertainty even if they are the ones making that decision. They still have to deal with school and life in the midst of the turmoil.

Most of us have trouble processing what passes for opinion on social media. I can’t imagine how a 20 year old could deal with it.
