Belo's problem is when things get stalled (our offence) he over tries to make things happen. When 3 pointers aren't falling and people are not making plays he forces a pass into a very small window or tries to be the one to score against the odds. Some time it works some times it doesn't. Because he sees things that others don't players often find a ball in their face that they were not expecting or are ready to do something with. Surround him with athletic shooters he can feed and player that can outlet and run the flour like when Ayo was last year and he will shine. Hope it's here. ILL
With 2021-22 being a traumatic year for Belo, I am sure he will improve. He did force too much in the post season but it was tempted at times because nobody else could make things happen besides Kofi (unless you count RJ and Goode.)

I read somewhere that 'Belo is supposed to sit - within the next week or two - with the coaches and discuss the future

I cannot image anything else other than Belo is in the driver's seat if he stays. Of course Skyy might come but that won't take away the ball completely even that happens.

Andre just has to watch how top NBA PGs like Chris Paul, Kyle Lowery, Fred Van Fleete operate. You can make the great pass without throwing it away half the time.

Chris Paul career 10 apg 2 turnover per game
Kyle Lowery career 6 apg 2 turnovers

Andre

2020 4.2 apg 2.6 turnovers
2021 3.1 apg 2.8 turnovers

Andre want to play in NBA. He has a long way to go. He loses the ball by too much dribbling in traffic and forces too many passes. he has to be able to hit the mid range jumper and wide open three.
Maybe comparing college stats makes slightly more sense than whatever it is you are doing.
Even then, wtf.

After what we faced this year - injuries, sickness, etc - I expect anything to happen. After all Skyy also has ACL related issues and doubt anyone has a good idea which direction that will go

All players will go thru an end of year review. At that point we will start to learn about who plans to stay who plans to leave. There were rumors last season that Curbelo might transfer. They turned out to be nothing more than rumors. Hopefully that’s the case this year.

Last year's off season ended up with us losing all 3 AC 's and replacing them over a period of time ..................Then a freshman starter decided to transfer , and if I remember right , never discussed it with anyone before doing it ........Then we were wondering if Kofi was gone to the NBA , or gone to another college.....
Then we were wondering if Trent and DMW were coming back .................................................Can't remember if covid did anything to disrupt last off season , but what I listed is a bit above the normal things a college BB program has to endure ............

I want Belo to come back ..............I really really do ...................And I want him to come back with an increased level of MATURITY in his actions on the court like facial expressions and body language ..........A more MATURE sense of the risks to take as far as his play leading the team next year..........Actions do speak louder than words and a leader needs to show MATURITY on and off the court to inspire others to be their best.......

Hey , I enjoy an elite pass as much as others , such as that pass between the defenders legs or the one to CoHawk of about 25 feet catching him in full stride for a dunk .........But , I can do without the turnovers by Belo forcing it when there's nothing there..........I wished he had passed out of the paint like everyone says Kofi should do ......

I just woke up ( gummy bear & 420 )and some quality time with NL # 3 , but I had to post my opinion as I feel Belo could be an AA if he would just grow up some more and channel into the team more than trying to be a highlight reel every second he is on the court.....

Good , bad or ugly , he sure is entertaining though as I have cheered , cussed and wondered how he did some things and wish he hadn't done some other things.....

Oh well , I guess the off season hot stove mentality is here also.............................

Missouri forward Trevon Brazile hit the portal on March 22 and this time around, 247Sports is going to go all in on the 6-foot-9 forward from Springfield, Mo. We were intrigued by Brazile high school but with limited viewings had to be on the conservative side with his ranking (right outside the top-150). Now is the time to be aggressive.

He is as good as anybody to hit the portal thus far and an argument could be made that long term, he’s the best to hit so far.

Once Brazile hit the floor for Cuonzo Martin, it was obvious that he was improving rapidly and had a bright future. He’d grown to 6-foot-9, he had added some strength and it was apparent that he had freaky good potential as a defender and offensive upside. Averaging 6.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game say that he held his own as a freshman. SEC coaches who have faced him and some NBA scouts say that those numbers are just the tip of the iceberg.

Sources have told 247Sports that programs like Arkansas, Illinois and Kentucky are among those to inquire early and he’ll have many more checking in. He is no sure thing and still has a lot of developing to do, but it is obvious that he’s got a high ceiling and could develop into a big-time player.

Anyone care to predict who Illinois lands in the next few months, either in the transfer portal or a HS recruit?

I'll guess:
- Clark
- JFL
- Clifton Moore (total reach but why not? :) )

I think the Illini staff knows they need another big man on the roster next year, so they'll take someone like Moore if they can. They won't *not take* Clark if he wants to come here. And I think they'll want some experience on the wing, and Freeman-Liberty fits that bill as well as being part of the Illini family already, thanks to his uncle.

I don't disagree with you. Only saying it's not a bad idea for Belo to stay purely from a basketball point of view. I understand there might be other important factors, too.

I really think people are underestimating the impact the concussion and missing all time during the season had on Belo. He had some bright spots, but didn't look like the same player he was last year.

JFL? Really good player, but he's a one year rental. I'd prefer a guy with multiple years. He has already transferred once. I have my doubts he would be a top priority.

Love to get in the mix with Brandon Murray from LSU and the Forward (Brazille?) from Missouri. Both are freshmen who have already proven they can be effective at this level, with plenty of untapped potential left to develop.

These are what I would like, not necessarily what i think we will get....

Obviously, Skyy is the top priority at the moment. Any time you have a shot with a 5 star this late in the recruiting season, you gotta put on the full court press.

Agree. He apparently hasn’t fully recovered by the end of the season scoring wise. Supposedly it will fix itself by next season, which I hope is at Illinois.
