I'm gonna go ahead and mark you off in the 'doesn't give two !!!!!' category. Cool?

They could block users, but you risk backlash by them on other platforms. It's better to just hope that positive engagement tricks the algorithm into showing those up top so the only way negative comments are easily seen is if you load more comments. That works for fans looking at the posts, but if the guys are being tagged, they'll see the notification (and likely message) no matter whatCou
Could the athletic department edit out the truly hurtful & toxic comments? Pardon my ignorance, I'm not that involved with social media.
Curbelo probably got the worst of it by far, but I am sure they all got tons of negative messages from Illini "fans" on social media. Probably a decent amount of racist stuff too.The fact of the matter is that whether Belo leaves or not, whether it's because of fans being asshats or not, there was a pattern of abuse towards the guy on social media that really shouldn't be up for debate as being acceptable. I really don't get why that's in question unless you just don't give two !!!!! about these kids. I just hope if he goes, he's happier wherever he lands. If Trent can't get it through your head, I'm sure I won't be able to.
So is this a good example of how social media was treating Curbelo? Good job and understand your point....10 pages ago sheesh!

I never said it was an "Illinois" problem, in fact, I specifically said we're not unique in that regard. But the new reality is that players who expect to make any NIL money are going to be on social media and unlike you, I think it's incumbent not just morally but from a fan perspective that we should acknowledge this situation was FUBAR. We, as Illinois fans, can do better. Players have lots more freedom than they used to and if you want to be an attractive destination as a non-Blue Blood, it would sure make sense to try and be a welcoming place for the student athletes who choose to be here.Curbelo probably got the worst of it by far, but I am sure they all got tons of negative messages from Illini "fans" on social media. Probably a decent amount of racist stuff too.
I just don't like how people are talking about it like it's an Illinois problem. UNC fans may be cheering on Caleb Love now but if you look back a few months, there are posts everywhere saying he needs to transfer and he's garbage.
It's a social media problem and there is nothing that any of us on Illinois Loyalty can do about it. It's not going to change much and the players have to figure out how to cope with/deal with/ignore the social media negativity if they still want to use social media for NIL money reasons. If they don't care about NIL, they can lock down their social media so random strangers won't be sending them abusive messages.
This may come across as unsympathetic. To be clear, I don't think the players should have to put up with this, but it's just an unfortunate fact that social media is a cesspool and it's not going to change. I don't see the point in sitting around moping about how Illinois "fans" drove off Curbelo.
most talented and most potential are vastly different. In my opinion, last year he was nowhere close to our most talented basketball playerRoster turnover is inevitable, but when possibly the most talented basketball player on the team feels the need for a "fresh start" somewhere else, it is absolutely a failure by some, if not all, parties involved.
Ha! This gave me a chuckle...Guess I should've been more specific- I don't do Instagram or Twitter.Name checks out
Ya'll might not know this but when a coach is fired for violations... it's pretty hard to keep the grey area cash promises. One of the big reasons the other incoming 5* guys are moving on as well. Will Wade got fired

But people are defending things that are not being brought up as being the āsoleā reason. Of ALL the reasons that could be behind and/or a contributing factor in Curbelo leaving (I hope not) the fan aspect of it is still a factor. As fans we have control exactly 1 thing in regards to the Illinois bball program. That is how we treat our players. Overall, for Curbelo this year I would rate it an abysmal failure.Nobody is saying these things didn't happen. The viewpoint that these things happening is the sole reason that Curbelo is leaving is what is being challenged, and not whether the events took place or not.
I can't believe we've had 3 straight nights of L.A.D. gotta be a reason...anyone know why?
