Curious . . . Would there be any players out there willing to forego a scholarship if there's enough NIL money to be made? Wanting to join a team that's out of available scholarships?

Something in the vein of pro athletes seeking rings that restructure their contracts for the team to sign free agents? I could see this happening 1) if the player not taking the scholarship has a big enough profile that NIL money will continue at current level 2) player makes enough NIL $ to make up for the value of the scholarship and 3) there is a school and coaching staff willing to explore this gray area. ( I know we're laughing at that last one).

Think some of the training table limitations would prevent it… same reason Luther Head hasn’t picked up anybody’s tuition to date.

Someone mentioned that TSJ was an honor student in HS. Based on that, one would assume earning a degree would be important to him. This would explain why “credits” might be an issue. If he’s on schedule to graduate early, or even on time… this could be a major issue for him.

Illini fans have been burned before in similar situations, so it’s normal to be nervous. Enjoy the ride, but realize recruiting information changes by the minute.

I'd imagine something has to officially happen with our current roster first? Cureblo's spot is open, but there isn't room for them to both commit tomorrow without something happening.
