Even if he was planning to hit the portal (I hope he isn't) I can think of a lot worse ways to spend an evening than goin out on the town with Kofi and crew
Yeah, not like these guys aren't still friends. LaTulip still "recruited" for us after he transferred out. He can transfer out for more playing time and still want to see the team succeed.

Depending on what happens with Podz, a guard rotation of Clark (6'3), Epps (6'2), TSJ (6'6), Williams (6'5), makes us a look a lot more like teams that play deep into March. It's okay to have some big guards that aren't all knockdown shooters.

Hell, when our "knockdown" shooters last year went cold, they were practically worthless on the floor. Not the case with a guy like Williams.
The sheer athleticism and scoring ability of Sincere Harris has sorely been missing from this post. He attacks the basket with no restraint!

Yep, not even including a potential rotation with Podz/Harris! I think if they are both here they will use another year of development before they see the floor, especially if we add a guard like Williams with Clark.

I love Harris as a prospect, think he is the forgotten man in this class. But with the number of guards we have coming, paired with how hard we are attacking the portal, I would be SHOCKED if he played any minutes of significance on next year's team. Still love his long term potential.

Ah this is a rough take…he averaged over 9 points a game and shot 41%. Trent shot 39% last year (granted, better from 3) and he was one of our better offensive players. He’s a better scorer than you think, imo.
Imagine comparing a players fg% who shoots 2/3rds of his shots 3s. Williams averaged less than a point per shot attempt last year. 2 fts = about 1 shot attempt. He has potential though but to say he was a decent scorer last year is insane

he would be a bench guy (backup point). Elite defender with a lot of upside. Still three years left
Would he transfer in to be a bench guy? I mean, he'd be a great depth guy and defensive stopper. With the guys being talked about, who I know we won't likely get all of, he just seems like a plan B guy. Jmo and you obviously know more about what the staff is looking at and looking for. Thanks for your input as always.

Assuming we get Skyy and TSJ, where is Brazile when it comes to likelihood or priority versus Miller or Williams?

As now, we don't have many guards on next year's team. Three to be exact, which is not enough. Of course if you're assuming we land all these guys we're talking about, then yes, we'll have lots.

@illini0440 @Indy Illini Fan @LvilleILL Any idea why Illinois hasn't pursued Antonio Reeves? Duke, UK, and KU are all after him so clearly the bluebloods value his talent.

Is our relationship with Simeon post-THT so bad that he wouldn't hold interest in coming here?

Williams offensive numbers were also skewed by two pretty quiet games after he injured his shoulder but before they shut him down for the year. He's clearly not going to be a flamethrower from 3, but he would be a heckuva backup PG.

Would he come to Illinois to be a backup PG? I have no clue. Just asking.

3 point shooting isn't the only way to score.
So you are saying you are ok with someone who struggled shooting it and don't care if they shoot below 30 percent from 3? I am not. Clearly there are more ways to score but I'm tired of our guys being dared to shoot because they aren't efficient from outside. I saw enough of that with Jalen Tate and vs Houston recently.
