L.A.D. ????????
Seems slow tonight!!!!!
Just regarding help defense alone, there is nothing quite like an extra blind-side help small quick guard to harass an opposing team's big man and lead to TO's or a poor shot. Less likely to get whistled for a foul than a bigger guard in this capacity too. Hit em high, hit em low.I get wanting to be longer overall as a team, that's a great idea, but it seems like some on this board are getting a little over-obsessed with everyone fitting a certain mold. If there are shorter guards out there that can help our team we shouldn't reject them solely based on height. Jalen Brunson is only 6'1" and he led his team to 2 tournament titles and won NPOY. Maybe having a rotation full of undersized guards would be a problem, but having one very skilled undersized guard is not going to hurt us.
I really am sorry I posted that.Keep the posts coming so we can move to a new page so I don’t have to look at this anymore.
Huh?If they miss on Terrence Shannon. A name to watch is Jusaun Holt from Alabama. Didn’t have much of any production this season. Staff likes the length and shooting ability.
Not over til it’s over but I still expect TSJ to be an Illini.Has anyone said anything about TS not coming....I commend you on strong 1st post...welcome to the board.
My only counter is how many transfers have signed yet? So many teams are still figuring out whose staying and whose going so they don’t even know how many spots they have and transfers want to know whose staying so they know where they can be a good fitThe longer these play out, the more I wonder if they will happen. The mood shifted from “He’s a lock” to “It’s not over til it’s over” for TS.
When that happens I feel like we missed our window.
Maybe these guys will still be Illini, and are just slow playing things, but we’ve seen this play out before when all signs point to us but then it doesn’t happen.
Which is fine, recruiting is fluid. Even if we think it’s a lock these guys are humans that can change their mind for any reason.
It’s the nature of the game!
It’s what happens when dealing with 17-21 year olds. They have a hard time telling people no sometimes. We can only relay what’s being said to us by them or people in their camp. And if they aren’t being 100% honest what can ya do.The longer these play out, the more I wonder if they will happen. The mood shifted from “He’s a lock” to “It’s not over til it’s over” for TS.

Well hope some people sent you some now just to say “Hi” and check in on you. Bet you got a few.Not one PM from anyone today…..first day in like 2 weeks haha.
Do we need transfers out (entering the portal) before accepting incoming based on scholarships available?
Well, this is already different than how I thought things typically came down. It’s what happens when dealing with 17-21 year olds. They have a hard time telling people no sometimes. His scholarship is good through the rest of the semester after he enters the portal. That’s why you see a lot of football players announce like the first week of second semester classes. Their scholarship is secured through May, but after that it’s not held for them (unless the coaches want to try to recruit them back, and hold it for them). This touches on a question I have...once a player enters the portal, has he forfeited his scholarship from his current school and the school under no obligation to hold it for him until he makes the transfer official?
Correct, the school has no obligation to hold a scholarship for him. This touches on a question I have...once a player enters the portal, has he forfeited his scholarship from his current school and the school under no obligation to hold it for him until he makes the transfer official?
He looks solid.Preps are on the back burner now, but this kid is a target:
AAU ball should tell us a lot.
I read elsewhere that this guy wants to be an Illini, but there are background people telling him to wait. In any case, this is the guy that ended Ty Rodgers’ HS season.Preps are on the back burner now, but this kid is a target:

Well….where do you think the staff and or team get their info from? It’s from the recruits and or their camp. That’s what I’m getting at. When they feel good it’s because they got good news from the kid and or people involved.Well, this is already different than how I thought things typically came down.
I was under the impression that most all credible information shared on this board came from leaks by the 20-person coaching/player group directly around Underwood. (i.e. Good news! Press conference being scheduled for 2:00pm Friday - BU is flying back from his FL vacation; or, WCIA heading to HS gymnasium Tuesday night at 5:30pm; or, Tipton reached out to staff to confirm xyz; or, player and his parents were at our shoot-around last night and informed us they've delayed their flight home; or, Loren Tate sat next to Chet at last night's alumni dinner and was encouraged to be available all day Sunday; or, Lieb is in my SexEd class and gave me the thumbs-up when I asked if the Skyy would be bright and sunny on Friday).
I wasn't expecting info to be coming from the player and/or his entourage. The 20-person Illini coaching/player group would seem to be a lot more trustworthy and loyal than random HS players and their people scattered across the US.
