You do realize you guys get a very small sample of what I actually know and most of the time it’s a very watered down version of what I know….and it’s usually way after I actually found out about it….like I knew 10+ days ago that Belo talked to an assistant coach about possibly coming back

I believe you have confirmed you are connected to this man in more ways than one? Hi Tyler!

Or maybe… Brad? ;)

Goode for sure checks most boxes, that's why I thought I said last year's and this years recruits. I think Goode's not a 2. He is basically a 3 or a smaller stretch 4.He is certainly going to play meaningful minutes. He is a good athlete too just may not be quite the athlete that some of these guys we are looking at in the portal or explosive as RJ is. He may have athletic trait of strength over RJ. That's one reason he logged more minutes. I have high hopes for Goode. When Kofi is in the floor he may be nipping in Hawks heels if Hawk 3 point shooting doesnt improve. Goode is very capable and makes few mistakes and should only get better. I feeling good about Goode's future
I am in full agreement (except for the comment about playing the 2). A good post well stated.

Even if he goes to the G league or elsewhere and his opportunity cost is a half a million bucks or more? I will feel sorry for him not getting better unbiased advice.
It seems you are basing your “correct’ advice primarily if not only on money. There are other things in life and he might just be wanting to move on and get the rest of his life started. Staying in college another year will likely do nothing to increase his pro prospects or his future success in that arena. Nothing wrong with him betting on himself.

I’d love to see Kofi back, but I fully understand why he’d move on. Just because many on here have decided that Kofi is destined to at best play in G League or overseas doesn’t make it inevitable. Not the same situation, but I seem to remember many people on here saying Ayo shouldn’t enter draft because he wasn’t assured being picked in first round. He wasn’t, he went anyway, he wasn’t drafted in first round and his professional career has suffered greatly. Oh wait, the last part didn’t happen. I’m not saying Kofi will have same success, just that what drove Ayo to leave — a belief in himself and wanting to move on to trying to make his dream a reality — is the same thing driving Kofi. Sure the financial aspects play a part, but they may not be number 1 or even 2 for Kofi. Just because you don’t agree with the advice doesn’t mean it is the right advice for him.

Cat was out of the bag, pretty late prediction. Similar to many crystal ball picks.
(Not directed at you, Joel): I have fun reading potential commits, transfers, etc. on this board. I have found that some of the most trusted insiders have the insider status of a mushroom while others seem to get their info from the same twitter feeds that I follow. That said, it's still fun to come and see what's going on. I'm not going to hold anyone to their possible news. If it weren't for the nonstop rumors on this board, my life would be much duller. This beats the hell out of the old comment section on the news-gazette.

Lots of things to argue in this post.

AYO was for sure getting drafted. Many had him late first round. He got $2M guaranteed. Kofi is very likely not getting drafted and will have no guarantee.

Yes, money is not everything, but when you are a poor Jamaican kid and basketball is your chosen career it kind of matters. $500k-$1M is a lot of money. More than a lot of people make in 5-10 years of work.

What we don’t know is what the NIL numbers actually are and what feedback Kofi is getting from the NBA/Europe, but I agree with the original poster that if the numbers we know are right and the feedback we are hearing is right, it’s a pretty bad decision to leave.

Happy Easter to you. You must like it here, you've been around for almost 9 years. You need to post more often. Go Illini

Guessing the backup big option if Kofi leave is Manny Bates? Which, if that's the case, would be absolutely awesome. That dude can play and would be great as a more defensive-minded option to pair with Dainja at the 5 rotation.

Also, to anybody inclined to freak out right now about Kofi potentially leaving, just remember that you were doing the same thing 12 months ago and all worked out quite well. We may not be a preseason top 10 team but I have no doubt BU will put together a squad.

I hope I'm in the right thread with this, but I'd love to see Podz transfer to ISU. Since they fired their coach, they've had eight players enter the transfer portal. They are desperate in their attempt to create a roster and I think Podz would be a force in the MVC. Plus--since I live in B-N, I could see some of his games in person. I guess that's the selfish part :).

Happy Easter TC. I dont know how much hard time ive done on this board, but brighter days are ahead! Enjoy the day!
Thanks, exciting times for you and your 3 year old. It says 10 years for you on here in October. We will need your St Rita updates this fall. They are top 25 in the nation and playing a more national schedule. Hearing good things about James Brown and Nojus. Go Illini

If he declares again, he can’t come back.
That is a DUMB rule! Why do they stipulate that, except because they can. It defies logic that they limit it to two years rather than allow it each and every year! Its seems like someone said "how often should we allow a college kid to explore his options?" and some pompous big wig huffed and puffed and said "only twice" with NO more thought for the process other than that!

WHY??

Always fun to see people tripping over themselves to frame their comments as just wanting wants best for the kid (as if they know what that is) when the reality is they just want what's best for their favorite basketball team.
