See that he’s from Maryland so thus the Chester connection (lead recruiter on his official), but stupid question based on what was said a few hours ago: wouldn’t Whitmore be a threat to RJ’s playing time? Same position, right? Obviously, as a 5*, Cam’s probably better, but how would RJ take that? Or is it something, something, positionless, something…?

It's come up more than a couple times on this thread so I'll opine a bit.
It is Brad Underwood's job to recruit over every single player on the roster. No one has a guarantee to a spot or to playing time.
The best years of Illinois basketball have featured young guys coming in needing to compete for spots and older guys always knowing that without bringing their best they'd lose it time to a young guy.

It's really nice not being part of the "10+ schools" but actually mentioned by name.
Nope, we have had classes with multiple MCDAA guys. One example was 1982 we had two burger boys and Winters was the MVP. Bruce Douglas was good too. We have had other great classes too. This one is great but has none even though Skyy was close.

They need a scholarship spot to open which to my knowledge is mostly dependent on Caleb Love.

We throw a lineup of Skyy, RJ, Whitmore, Hawk and Dain, we are top 10 preseason and will be the team to beat in the conference. Its a no brainer, you take CW if he wants to come. Go get him Chester.

If Cam Whitmore reopens his recruitment, he is immediately our #1 target and the best option that has been available the entire time.
Whitmore would be stupid not to reopen the recruitment. Villanova without Jay Wright is just not the same program. That coupled with the fact they are not hiring a big name to replace him.
