Hate arguing about a hypothetical, which is what Nance being an Illini is.

That said, Nance has averaged 15 ppg in college. He’s played four years at this level. And he’s a decent rebounder and defender and scores inside and out. If we’re lucky enough to get him, he’d likely be one of our two best players.
Just shows you can't accept that Ty is coming in as the next Draymond Green with six fewer years of development time required. /s

I'm with you. Nance is not a mid major jumping up a level. He's a guy who has proven it for years in the very league he's coming to. Some of the comments make me think people rate him like Darius Paul or something. If he comes and Hawkins has a better year than him it will be a monster season for us.

Another way to develop bad locker room & team chemistry is playing someone over others when their not playing as well as some of their teammates. The coaches should get the best players possible and play whoever gives them the best chance to win. Hurt feelings be damned.
While not taking a position one way or the other here, I have bad memories of “players play players.”

Summary of the Day from my perspective:

Podz news reaction: College kid goes to California, hard to argue with that. Good luck, Podz!

Grandison update: I would love to see him back. Although I don't know if Grandyman rates better than Nance defensively. Can we get both? If not, who would you prefer on the roster next year?

Dan's post: Thanks for the reminder, Dan! I appreciate you all and enjoyed the thread in spite of a slow day.

Missing anything other than amusing GIFs?

As long as the coaches are consistent, I think the players can deal with it. Some players are glue guys and trust the coaches and themselves to get through adversity, and there are others that have a harder time when things don't go smoothly. At the end of the day, it's a business, with a lot of money involved. People on all sides should do what's best for them, whatever they feel that might be.

I personally would like to see coach give more minutes to the bench, assuming he's seeing something in practice that deserves to be rewarded. I think there's a lot to be gained by giving guys a chance in game circumstances, even if it's a little out of coach's comfort zone. Some guys rise to the occasion, and you don't know until you take some chances. Most of the coaches I admire give guys more chances and use it to teach, and to reward effort. Late in the season and into the post-season, that's when it should be about winning and making as deep a run as possible. The talent level has come up --I'd like to see a bit more leash so guys don't play tight.

Only Brad can decide this, and history says teams don't traditionally play more than 10, but Brad loves Grandy and we need another big. Could we hockey shift a 12 player squad if we play a press lite d and 7 second offense? Would it work?

This season is going to be a process...we have so many new people BU will be giving everyone tick early in the year...figuring out what groups make sense when....we'll obviously be better later in the season...it's going to be a interesting ride.

Still listed available.....
Frankie Collins
Tyrese Hunter
Kyle Lofton
Hassan Diarra
Colton Mitchell

I've given you a topic..they are guards that play point.....discuss
I would be interested in Osun Osunniyi.

He's from Pleasantville, which is awesome (love Don Knotts), but he appears to be a strong rebounder, averaging 9.4 rpg as a Jr and 8.1 rpg for his career, averages 2.7 bpg for his career, A-10 defensive player of the year twice. He's not a good shooter, but to me, if we get Nance, a 4th big that can provide defense and rebounding is exactly what we need.

The question is, would he be willing to play 20 mpg in a rotation or will he be getting offered a bigger piece of the pie at other schools?

I really think the Dallas Mavericks could really use Kofi's service and be very productive there.....Mavz have no kind of inside presence (since Tyson Chandler - IMO) that he would give them...play solid defense under Kidd and Kofi would kill it with Luka and Brunson (if he remains a Mav) ...rolling to the hoop
Just got back from the game & the Mavs definitely don’t need/want Kofi.

Correct. Any backcourt add at this point will be for depth.
Which makes complete sense. We likely don't need a stud PG as I think Skyy and Epps will take the reins from the start. We need someone with decent skills that won't be upset if he's not getting big minutes.

Not following.

If coach doesn’t believe in CH, then he should tell him to find another team. Not giving him the opportunity to start by guaranteeing a potential transfer has nothing to do with hurt feelings. It would be slimy.

I don’t think that’s going on here so the point is moot. But your posts mentions teammates yet the discussion is about transfers that aren’t teammates.

Can't he hope for the best but be prepared for the worst? Coleman was not the most consistent this year. I'm optimistic, but I don't see him practice every day.

I don't think anyone is suggesting that Coleman won't have a chance to start. I think he will. But Nance has the upper hand if he comes here.

My guess would be both Hawk and Nance start and Dain is the one that has to prove something. Always thought Hawk was better at the 4 but think he will get plenty of time at the 5 if the add is Mayer instead of Nance. Prefer Nance by a lot. The mix of Dain, Hawk, and Nance is not a problem with minutes with 80 to spread.
