Thanks to Scott Richey for compiling those numbers. Wow. I wonder whether statistics are similar across high major programs. If the future of D1 basketball is a world in which 40-50% of players transfer at least once during their careers, then "recruiting" is an entirely different game than it was just a few years ago.The different world of college basketball
Illinois offered 236 recruits in Underwood's first four full classes from 2018-2021. More than 40 percent of those players have already transferred. Some more than once. In total, 101 of the 236 former Illini targets have changed teams. That includes nine that chose Illinois and ultimately decided to head elsewhere after at least one season in orange and blue (Alan Griffin, Anthony Higgs, Tevian Jones, Samba Kane, Jermaine Hamlin, Benjamin Bosmans-Verdonk, Andre Curbelo, Adam Miller and Brandin Podziemsk

Welcome to “Good Morning, Illini Nation,” your daily dose of college basketball news from Illini beat writer and AP Top 25 voter Scott Richey. He’ll offer up insights every morningwww.news-gazette.com
Not mutually exclusive...lolIs that Illini cleavage, or simply cleavage generally? I'm inclusive.
Yes his new name is Mayer...Jokic is coming??
Did not see Mayer's name. Does that mean anything?

To me it means he got an NBA combine invite. This list is for players who did NOT get an invite.Did not see Mayer's name. Does that mean anything?
He'll definitely go through the process, but if things don't go well, at least he'll know what to work on...in Champaign!!!Have to wonder if this speeds up Nance’s decision to return to CBB.
Neck growth plates still open but that's just #wastedheightGrowth plates closed.
Question. How do you know these players did NOT get an invite? (I'm not familiar with this, just looking for clarification)To me it means he got an NBA combine invite. This list is for players who did NOT get an invite.
Oh, there's more than one...The one woman who frequents this forum.
I probably would prefer mvps with less punchable faces, but I probably wouldn’t complain too loudly about itWe could get him and someone on here would still find a way to complain about it
I believe that the G League combine invites are for players who are not on the initial NBA combine invite list. If you make the NBA's initial list, you aren't on the G League list, because it would make no sense for you to go to that really. I think that after the G League combine the NBA asks front offices who from the G League combine they would like to see added to the NBA list, typically based on their performance at the G League combine.Question. How do you know these players did NOT get an invite? (I'm not familiar with this, just looking for clarification)
Is there a rule or something that you can't attend both NBA and GLeague camp? and therefore you're assuming that if these players received an invite to both that they would no doubt choose to go to the NBA camp?
A certain number of NBA combine invites have already gone out. If you just Google "NBA combine invite," the articles will pop up. Those participating in the NBA G League Elite Camp have a small chance to work their way into a combine invite if they show out as a "top performer" (only 4 out of 40 camp participants received combine invites last year. There were 69 combine invites total). In other words, the ultimate goal of camp participation is to receive a combine invite. So I would think of the NBA G League Elite Camp as a kind of play-in game for the combine.Question. How do you know these players did NOT get an invite? My understanding is that those invited to the G League Elite Camp were not (initially) invited to the combine. The list that went out today are those who have accepted that invitation. The top performers may earn an invite to the NBA combine. So a player wouldn't be on both lists unless they were later added to the NBA combine list after their performance at the G League Elite Camp.A certain number of NBA combine invites have already gone out. Moving to your hypothetical: if someone received both invites, is there anything stopping them from attending both? I suppose the main answer to your question would be "calculated risk." If you've already received a combine invite, there's no reason to insert yourself into a situation, against lesser competition, where people will be fighting tooth-and-nail for something you already have. You could get injured. You could lower your draft stock. And even if you perform well, you've done nothing that wasn't already expected. It's a better use of your time to continue working out with a personal trainer and preparing for the combine itself. The same thought-process applies to those who are projected to be high-lottery picks. No reason to participate in the combine if there is little to gain and the main risks are injury, underperforming, and dropping your draft stock.
NBA G League Elite Camp is May 16, 17 followed by the NBA Combine, which ends May 22. "Some players will work their way into the NBA Combine later that week," according to the above tweet.
