But with us landing any and every recruit & potential transfer that we want, do we really want to waste our time on a player outside of the top 30? /s

I know youโ€™re being facetious, but given that weโ€™ve landed one player in the top 30 in the last decade (Clark at #30), Iโ€™m guessing we would.

I was definitely being facetious. Not pursuing any player we thought had significant potential to lead the Illini to B1G & national championships based on a short run of recruiting success would be the very definition of naivety, "putting the cart before the horse", "counting your chicks before they're hatched", "resting on your laurels", etc, etc, or whatever other outdated proverbial phrases that you'd want to use. Based on his multi-tiered plans not only for recruiting but also for the entire program, I don't think Brad Underwood is the type of person to become complacent and "rest on his laurels" because of a little success (I think the same of Josh Whitman).
