Of course you want to prioritize both Nojus and JB, but we have Morez in the pocket and if we land Amani too....I would go 110% all in pedal to the floor on Nojus. Top priority. He seems to play longer than 6'5" on all his vids, has the jump shot and wants to get in the lane and FINISH.

Better this than the stupid waiver system with no consistency — well except the consistency of players going to top schools get a waiver.
The problem is it is not going to stop with transfers. Once you went down this rabbit hole the flood gates are open to all kinds of demands by "student athletes". Look at the new demand to the BIG that "student athletes" receive a share of the media revenue. NIL plus complete deregulation plus a bunch of smart attorney/agents/accountants equals everything I loved about college basketball being gone forever. Sorry I am old school, but I see nothing good coming from this in the long run, and there is no turning back now. Just have to wait and see what college sports evolves into.
The NCAA and the conferences can do whatever they want, I guess, but it’ll still be up to the individual schools to temper the madness by sticking to their academic/admissions principles.
I guess this means that North Carolina will be perennial national champions given their admissions/academic principles (or more accurately, lack thereof).
If the things you loved about college basketball were supported by unfair treatment of it's players, maybe there's an issue there.
Yes, college basketball will be different. But our program is positioning itself to be successful in that environment
Unfair treatment? I supposed that depends on your definition, and what your life's lessons have taught you about right and wrong, fair and unfair. We will just have to respectfully disagree on this one. It just doesn't fit my definition of unfair treatment.
That's like saying someone that works in fast food or a restaurant and gets a free meal as "payment". Would anyone consider that fair treatment? Teamsters, USW, UAW, etc have been fighting to get people that make the engine run a bigger slice of the pie since 1866. Honestly it is more surprising it has taken this long. Probably because all these college athletes are thinking about being in the NFL or NBA in a couple years.
It would be refreshing to see someone who thinks "players getting paid has ruined college sports" also think the same about college coaches and assistant coaches getting paid. I'd still disagree, but I'd respect the hell out of the intellectual consistency.
Claiming amateurism to avoid having to fully compensate your employees is unfair.
Illinois has already shown that they are more than happy to compensate players adequately... particularly since they can do it above the table. I'm excited for the future.
Hmmm, let’s see … extracurricular activity vs. job. Just throwing that out there.
There are many points of view that can sustain logic and intellectual consistency. Not just one or two.
