Despite never playing college ball Tommy Hamilton had 3 brief stints with NBA teams. The size 7'2" and talent were there. Part of the twin towers at King HS.

Lou had a nice pipeline from King HS

Reggie, Efrem and Marcus made it thru class at Illinois. Efrem and Marcus were very good players for the Illini albeit did not live up to #1 player in the country ratings.

Tommy and Jamie Brandon never made it thru non qualifiers U of I summer program. Both would have been huge help to Illini program.

man, that was insightful. thanks

I reiterate how impressed I am that he chose a harder road, potentially much harder, than he could have. Kid could be a 4 year player for us, due to his smaller stature. I'm sure I'll get flak for this, but I think he could end up better than Trent. Maybe not numbers wise, but talent wise. Obviously. loooong way to go there. But no denying the talent.

Tommy would have been a success because his mother had big thighs!

On the Trent comp: DGL is gonna have to work like a dog to be in the same league defensively. But the raw material is there.

Speaking of Trent, I was having a conversation with another high school coach from the Austin area yesterday. He did some AAU coaching in the summers, and his team which featured Armoni Brooks (U-Houston, now Toronto Raptors) played Trent’s AAU team in Dallas one year.

He said they couldn’t guard Trent at all. He was too quick and going wherever he wanted, and then he was hitting some of those crazy Trent 3s when he got hot.

He said Trent capped the game when he got a fast break and dunked on Armoni Brooks. Apparently it was nasty. He said he was gonna look back for that film and send it to me if he has it.

If I get it, it’s going on loyalty. What a highlight that would be.

Dan needs to setup a thread with all poster dunk videos so when we get bored we can go watch Rennie dunk on Shaq!!!

You know, you can create that thread yourself - as long as you've accumulated enough posts in the forums. Do it!

I still don't post new threads --I usually post to the closest match I can find, and give Dan a heads-up that I think it needs one or mucks up the existing one. I feel like he does a lot of work to keep things organized, but it's a form of black magic [cue the gifs].

Pru I knew who he meant, but Gordon was 3 inches and 50 lbs bigger coming out of HS. And the #1 overall prospect by 247.

Trae has a similar build and style.

I am trying to recall if Trent ever dunked in a game while here. I remember some practice video of him dunking but I can't recall an instance of an in-game dunk. Did I miss that?

Looks like Morez will be here, and 2025 five star Trey Mckinney from Michigan. There are other names but I don't remember them....
