Another post (with a link) has him averaging 20ppg.

Not sure id believe a link that gives his 3 game total of 57pts and calls that a 20pt avg

(23 + 19 + 15)/3 = 19

Maybe there are more games than shown in that graphic?

You can take him and if it does not work out, you can be comfortable he won't stick around. Almost everyone is on a one year mutual tryout with the new rules. The exception is a guy like Lieb who is looking to get a good degree and enjoys being a part of a team and playing the game, even if it is only just in practice.
YOU TAKE THAT BACK ABOUT LIEB

Just saw that, along with every Duke and Kentucky recruit.

Remind me again what happened with Fears? Circle? NIL? Personality? Izzo?
Below average 3 point shot and a little bit of circle I believe?... I've been a little indifferent on the whole situation but Jayden Epps is our starting PG the next 4 years and I'm more than ok with that

My understanding - Fears was ready to commit and Coach U wasn't ready to accept. Don't know if/how the other items you listed played into the decision.
My understanding is that Fears is a good PG that is not a great outside shooter. Wonder how his game translates to college game?

Can you really count on any player sticking around the same school for four years nowadays?

The goal next year is to have Epps play the two and bring in a transfer veteran pg. Moretti would be the backup and play 10-15 min. Staff likes him a lot along with Perrin
If that’s the case it’d be nice to find a PG with decent size. Two Epps-sized guards would be a pretty small backcourt, wouldn’t really fit the defensive vision we’ve seen Brad go for this year.

Anyone in particular in mind? I know things go on behind the scenes, so I'm curious if the staff has their eye on someone. (No names needed obviously, but I'm curious.)

While that makes sense, where does Sincire play? How about DGL? It will be six pretty good players for three positions including Melendez. I guess it's a good problem to have these days.

Watched the St Rita/Mt Carmel game last night. The guard play for Rita is hard to watch. Struggled to feed the post or guard the 3 point line. Nojus had an impressive drive and dunk but mainly scored at the end when the game was decided. Brown was non existent. Tried the same spin move into traffic time and again to no avail. Picked up some fouls early 3rd and sat most of the rest of the game. Morez dominated the first quarter with 11 points including a nice looking 3. Finished with a few dunks and strong moves in the paint for 27 points and 12 rebounds. Denver is getting a steal in the Carmel point guard. Can’t believe schools like UIC, Loyola, Bradley and ISU didn’t go hard after him.

I watched St Rita last weekend too, coming back to pull off an OT win against a solid Modesto (CA) squad. Couple things I noticed about Morez Johnson in the game...

He now appears to be a smidge taller than James Brown, also a bit bigger and equally as athletic if not more. I got a good look at both of them. If JB is 6'10" then so is MJ. If anything they're both a solid 6'9" for sure. But MJ has definitely grown some from the time I watched St Rita last year. He may still not be done either.

For a Power Forward, MJ has quite a scorers mentality and a variety of moves. His mid range game out to the 3 is good, but still needs refinement before getting to college. But his ability to score in multiple ways down on the block is quite impressive. He covers alot of room with his post moves, and his athleticism allows him to finish above the rim with ease.

These couple of areas show me why MJ has passed up JB as the marquee player on this St Rita team. Didn't really witness much improvement from last year in JB when they played last weekend. But MJ has grown an improved dramatically. If he continues to trend upward and makes improvements, he could teeter on that high 4star or low 5star line by the time his HS career has concluded.

Obviously every team in college basketball has more than five players on scholarship. You generally want 4-5 guards, 4-5 bigs, and 3-4 wings. I don’t see our prospective backcourt rotation you listed as that loaded. Teams like Duke, UNC, Kentucky have McDonald’s AAs backing up their starters.

Fwiw I’d like to see Epps play both the PG and off the ball. He doesn’t need to be locked into one or the other.

With football you see recruits enrolling in the winter. Why haven’t we seen this trend in basketball? If a recruit enrolled and then redshirted they could practice and condition with the team

If a player wanted to win a state championship I get that but if the goal is to make the NBA 5 extra months at the college level could make you stand out early in the season
