Just saw that 19 of the 40 starters in the Elite 8 are transfers. There are lot of ways to build a team in 2023.
I wonder how many are at least in their 2nd season with their program.

Looks to me like 10 of the 19 are 1st year transfers that start. Kansas State has 4 1st year transfer starters and Nowell transferred last year.

There are multiple other 1st year transfer guys that are key contributors on these 8 teams that don't start.
Thanks for the research. Much appreciated.

Seems like parity is the college basketball word of the year.

Watching the JUCO National Championship on ESPNU right now. Kasean Pryor from NW Fl. State is a guy any P5 school should want. 6’10, decent handles, gets up and down, shot blocker, shoots it well, FT maker.

Also…. A Chicago kid 👍🏼

EDIT: getting 15pts, 8rebs, and 2asts on the season

How is that possible? We saw and heard all year that it takes longer than a year to gel.
Talent+ Fit/Right Attitude are undoubtedly the most important things with the portal.

As a staff, we need to speed up our self-assessing and get better at constructing on the fly if this is to be our new norm.

THAT was where Gentry was most missed in my opinion. Also, he seemed to have Brad’s ear in ways the others did/do not.

I’m not sure any of the teams still dancing returned zero starters from last year.
There’s an old cliche about teams being made in the offseason. We were recruiting half the offseason, thus not much “team.”
