It’s all just a roller coaster of emotions, this is the best time to be on this lovely board!

I think the old saying goes “don’t count your chickens before they hatch” …..hopefully the gamble pays off in the end but boy I’m not calling it the end of the world if we only end up with CoHawk and TSJ.

The state of play at this point in the recruiting game is the Wild West we all knew it would be. Like any institution it’s going to take a while to work out the kinks. At the end of the day it’s nice to see the athletes compensated for the value they provide the university and others, all this has been happening for years it’s just now simply going to be up front and honest.

Players getting compensated for the value they bring is long overdue.

Players flipping from school to school and everyone having to re-recruit and re-construct their roster every year is the wholesale destruction of the sport
I agree with both of your points, but an argument can be made that most players were always being compensated to some extent, and it's just now more "out in the open."

Time will tell whether NIL is a net benefit for a program like Illinois, where in the past, we've had to "play by the rules" to a greater extent than most of the programs with the kind of success that we still aspire to achieve. The jury is still out as far as I'm concerned.

Even though I'm annoyed with how long it's taken, I gotta give MAJOR props to Dennis. From the outside looking in it looks like he's pitting all these schools against each other to get paid.

I sure hope if he come to Illinois he's worth whatever he's going get in NIL money

People assuming the worst criticizing others for not assuming the worst makes for such interesting reading.

As interesting as reading those who are unfailingly intolerant of a single negative thought or expression about the current state of college basketball or Illinois' well - documented struggles in these types of "recruitments" in recent history. Not meant as a shot at you. It just seems the longer these types of threads go on, and on, and on, it eventually comes down to glass half full fans vs glass half empty. Nature of fan boards, I suppose.

Sorry if this was mentioned, I am not reading 19 pages haha, but I saw…Ant Wright I think…say if Illinois misses on RayJ, they should go after Yuri Collins, who might be a better fit.

I agree on both accounts. Especially If we get TJ or CoHawk or both back.
