Huh. Kid looks…pretty good. If this has legs, Woodbury would be a heckuva consolation prize.I’d actually be on board with Woodbury based on the highlights I’ve watched…over the last 5 minutes

Quite frankly losing top 35 Skyy Clark, then top 50 Jayden Epps and replacing him with Trey Woodbury? No that would not have satiated the fanbase, then bringing in a guy with less than stellar stats coming off a torn achilles, no. That would not have been much better. True we wouldn't feel the loss of this prolonged recruitment, but we would have said we're bringing in a bunch of mid-majors to replace our highly rated players.Seems like getting Woodbury in the fold and then waiting to see if something opened up for JWill might have been a better look (if what's being suggested actually has any merit).
20/20 hindsight is easy. Keep in mind that Fears was not even primary ball handler at La Lumiere. If we had him coming in people would be complaining about his size and lack of outside shot.Mrs. Fears is gonna be making a lot more money than big daddy Brad 5 years from now the way it looks. Pass up an in state McDonalds All American pg for what exactly? Hopefully Dra Gibbs steps up.
Plus blond hair, can't remember another blond haired Illini MBB player since, heck didn't Groce have one with a blown out knee? Not many P6 games for Woodbury. But that Oregon line looks awesome.
Like that guy Marcus Domask from way back whenPlus blond hair, can't remember another blond haired Illini MBB player since, heck didn't Groce have one with a blown out knee?
Short memories? He is the 7th(?) highest paid coach in college basketball and is going on his 7th year as our head coach and hasn't made the second weekend a single time. We can get the top recruiting class every single year but if we are not seeing results in March none of that matters. He absolutely changed our culture, put us back on the map nationally and has done great things for our program, but if we are losing every single year in the R64 or R32 it does not mean much.
Haven't seen a pic of him yetLike that guy Marcus Domask from way back when
Connor Serven?Haven't seen a pic of him yet
Don’t Forget Connor Serven.Plus blond hair, can't remember another blond haired Illini MBB player since, heck didn't Groce have one with a blown out knee?

I was speaking more of using what was the currently available scholarship for a guy who would definitely play next year, then waiting for an something to open up for Jeremiah Williams.Quite frankly losing top 35 Skyy Clark, then top 50 Jayden Epps and replacing him with Trey Woodbury? Which is still true and why this thread exploded with frustration today. I mean for pete's sakes, Aziz Bandaogo was talked about a lot on here. Could you imagine brining in three players from Utah Valley and telling that to your friends from other Big Ten schools? I'd avoid those guys so I wouldn't have to resort to saying, hey Utah Valley won the WAC, AND they made the NIT semifinal.
Then I don't get the offer? Did we miss something while recruiting him? Seems no one thinks he is good enough to play B1G bb. If this is the case we should cut ties now.He most certainly is not, unfortunately
I’d take him in a heartbeat.
Because he probably won't get a waiver and last time I checked we still need an actual PG and now all the scholarships are full.So wait, aside from the injury, why are we upset about a 6’4 guard who seems to produce and looks athletic? Comes from a productive high school program and Temple isn’t a terrible program for producing solid guard play.
Bullish on getting a waiver fwiwBecause he probably won't get a waiver and last time I checked we still need an actual PG and now all the scholarships are full.
Exactly, when Fears was about to commit he was stinking it up on La Lumiere. Didn't even play that great last summer during EYBL. His rise to a "five star" was suspicious. Could he be a great college player? Sure, but until he actually produces in college I'm not losing sleep on passing on him.maybe so, but it's about an order of magnitude more likely from Jeremiah than Jeremy. telling Fears we wanted to see more was the right call, IMO. happy to revisit this in a year or two.
This is post of the day in my opinion! Sneaky good!As long as Williams gets “Nothing Happened” tattooed on his achilles, we’re golden.
OK, should have said rotational players, I turn off the game when the scrubs come inDon’t Forget Connor Serven.View attachment 26241
You forgot Bruce Douglas.
We lost a possible transfer from frigging University
Think of all the future NBA players we lost - Derrick Rose, Eric Gordon, Cory Maggette, Jalen Brunson, more recently Talen Horton Tucker. No comparison.
I am intrigued by idea of using Coleman or Ty at PG. We did not have problem with press.
Nothing wrong with freshman PGs. Kiwane Garris, Derek Harper, Deron Williams, Frank Williams all did fine as freshman. Skyy and Jayden would have been much better as sophomores. Welcome to the new Portal world.
hmm and a football team with two qb's , has no qbA team with no PG is a rudderless ship.
