I think they really wanted RayJ. I have not heard or read any sour grapes regarding him.

Sounds like Mulcahey isn't at all interested. Why waste time pursuing him? That is not sour grapes.

I don't understand the interest in Reeves, don't see the need, they have Shannon, Damask, Goode.

I don't understand sleeping on Moretti; if that is what is happening.

Wondering what's up with Harmon.

There's always a place for more three-point shooting, especially in a spread-motion attack that is specifically designed to produce open looks from three.

Illinois has some decent shooters, but no knock-down 3-point shooters.

GMAB. People here have Rodgers as a lottery pick if he can learn to shoot. He is a 7/8 guy on a good team at best right now.

Sergio would not have allowed Pickett and Perkins and a host of others to abuse us I can tell you that, and he could shoot beyond 3 feet.
Almost nobody pushed Sergio around on the court. I remember his Senior year some publication did one of those articles where they ask the conference players who's best at this and that. When they asked who was the strongest player in the BIG, Sergio got the most mentions.
He would have been like a boulder against booty ball.

On one hand, I think Ty at PG gets our best five on the floor, which is great.

On the other hand, I’m already having flashbacks of Jaylon Tate dribbling at the three point line wondering why there was no defender within 15 feet of him.
And Flashbacks of Sergio trying to play PG. Sergio was definitely one of our five best players and furthermore he was way closer to a PG than Ty.

My hope is that Williams is somehow healthy and eligible this year. But that seems quite unlikely.

Sergio, at PG, was not "a much better version of Rodgers"
He was much closer to a PG skills-wise than Ty. And it was still ugly when we tried to play him at there.

Anyway, OP said PG by committee of Sencire, Ty, DGL, and Shannon. IMO they are all bad options. This is if Williams not ready.

Why would you hate a kid that we apparently are not pursuing?

I think this staff needs to get their act together here.
The guys we bring in who are point guards are either too small or hurt or ineligible.
Or have skillsets completely unfit for the position (Ty).

I don't feel the returnees are "bad" options but certainly not ideal. As far as what Harmon or DGL we have no idea what they may or may not be. It certainly isn't ideal but it may be fine. I still hope we add another and with more shooters and experience it should improve. Hopefully Williams will be good to go. If so we should be fine. I still hope we add someone.

Also they don’t think Paul is going to go anywhere inside the conference.
This does make sense...felt like a major longshot from the get-go. But, man, you still have to give it a shot. Crazy!

I do not understand the fascination with Reeves when you still desperately need a PG. Gonna be tough to explain if it doesn't go well this season.

Imo terrible move by staff to not go after Paul. Fits what we need way more than Reeves.

Wow, never seen Bert this dapper before! 😁

Seriously, I get that this is a disappointing offseason PG search thus far, but some of the talk in this thread about Brad's seat warming up and strike 3, etc. if he just makes the tournament again is still kind of mind boggling to me. I remember where we were prior to BU and, personally, I'm not ready to go back there again. Still hoping the tournament every year is BU's floor and with the right matchups/luck we can make some noise one of these years.

I'm a HUGE BU fan. I'm thankful that he got the program out of the disaster that it was in. We're nationally relevant again. That said, the PG position, last year, was the undoing of that team. Our top two returners were banking on a veteran PG to be put in place to navigate this season. It world be INCREDIBLY disheartening if we going into this season worse off than we were last season at the point. That seemed unfathomable, yet here we are.

Sports is a tough business, the more you win, the higher the expectation. Saying you are better than complete irrelevance will only get you so far. Not saying Brad should be fired, but the people that are paying him have higher expectations than just making the tournament.
