No he didn't, and Ty playing "point guard" for us last year was mainly dribbling up the floor and then passing it to Shannon on the wing and then relocating to the baseline or the wing.
Kinda like what Ayo did the last two years with the Bulls as a “point guard.”

I agree, other than he's not a great player (at least not yet). The way people build narratives is crazy.
Of course "great" is subjective -- both in what attributes you measure, and how much better than everyone else you need to be to earn that label -- but when a kid makes a select team like the U18 National Team, he's got to be pretty pretty damn good, at least in SOMEONE's eyes. There's an awful lot of really successful coaches who love his game and what he can bring to a team, and would love to have him on their rosters.

Imagine.. not playing a kid from Wisconsin very much- who worked harder than most people ive had the privilege of seeing play and workout in person... only for him to transfer to uc Santa Clara and become a top 25 projected pick the very next year..
That's what happens when you trust the Skyy Clark's of the world.

I have to say, for all the good Underwood has done, whiffing on Podz and not guaranteeing him legit play time for Skyy Clark/Jayden Epps to then see both of them leave is a major red mark against him. Fortunately, the transfer portal allows him the ability to cover up that screw up but it was a major screw up nonetheless. None of us saw Podz becoming the guy he became but if anyone should've known, it would've been the coaches. They saw him everyday in practice.

I thought (not from you) that "not having a scholarship left" would never matter if the right player was available? Perhaps the staff's ability to actually land the "right players" has been overstated just a bit? Sure, this cycle they've closed on guys from Utah Valley and Illinois State, but....
So, you probably didn't want that point guard from Toledo based on this. Right?

Maybe they saw him play defense, too. Or, not play defense...

Given the new realities of college basketball (portal and NIL) I do not think the coach explains much variance on who stays and who goes.

The player with their family, counselors, lawyer, and finanical planner weigh the pros and cons and make a decision under conditions of uncertainy

Certainly potnetial personality conflict and disagreements over coaching philosophy are one variable in tthe decision

Haven’t really seen many people talk about the staff maybe just being ok with doing PG by committee/Ty and Williams taking over in late Dec or January when fully healthy. Could be a good growth opportunity for Ty and others.

Smooth athlete. Every point or combo guard should have at least one assist in their highlight video though. Judging from his other videos, he seems to be like Sencire Harris but with way more scoring potential. I like it.
I think the kid has more of a Brandon Paul vibe.
