Are you trying to bait us?Time for round two of the fish puns!
This is my opinion exactly, give me two more years and if we haven’t gotten a sweet 16 let’s talk about coaching changes but let’s make sure the right guy’s available and interested and not fire Brad just to hire someone just as good or slightly worseI like Brad — great recruiter, good coach although in an ideal world I’d like to find an assistant or two who’s an Xs and Os specialist to help out with some on-court issues.
I think you ride it out with Brad at the very least until we get 1-2 years out of Morez.
If at that point we haven’t seen more postseason success, you can consider moving on — but only if you have someone more proven (WRT postseason success) in your pocket ready to accept. If there’s a Muss or Miller ready to take the job, I’d be all for it. But if there’s even a slight possibility firing Brad leads to a lateral move or downgrade, I’m against it.
It’s so dumb. Pretty sure Pitino has had a personal driver written into contract for like the last 30 years. These guys are the highest paid, highest profile people in their respective !!!! hole states. I almost feel like personal drivers should be standard practice since these idiots aren’t smart enough to use Uber.Yep, I can afford an uber and I don't make millions! Kind of shocked at this.
This guy said it with tongue firmly planted in cheek, I’m sure.Any chance any of those West Virginia guys hit the portal again, specifically Kriisa?
Greg McDermott didn’t make the sweet 16 until his 11th year at Creighton. The other two both hit home runs with their recent coaching hires but had an even worse stretch than we did the past 20 years before that so I can’t imagine they’d have such lofty expectations like our fan base. If we have a coach like that lined up make the move but if we don’t, give Brad a couple more years to prove he can win without Ayo and Kofi then look at a new guyCould we be Creighton? Alabama? Arkansas?
In fairness, he did say he needs heavy reps. I don't think it's out of the question --he shows some vision, passing, and bball IQ skills. His handles aren't ideal, and though it was a small sample size, his FT shooting was atrocious. There's a lot of other talent to work with and he'd be a very different look from say, DGL.Those clips show him great in a scramble but can he do the simple stuff running the offense. Not a criticism, just an observation
I was firmly against this but now I'm desperate enough that I'd be fine with it.This guy said it with tongue firmly planted in cheek, I’m sure.
Complacency is a losers approach. All of the best programs and coaches fight hard against complacency, knowing that the journey and continuous success requires continuously adapting, changing and improving (not complacency).Success breeds complacency
I wouldn’t say Weber and the staff were complacent. They went after the very best players. The problem was that they didn’t land many (any?) of them and the 2005 season quickly became a distant memory.Complacency is a losers approach. All of the best programs and coaches fight hard against complacency, knowing that the journey and continuous success requires continuously adapting, changing and improving (not complacency).
Perhaps "complacency" is what happened after 2005 and we began our decline.
I personally don't see this staff as "complacent"...btjm
No disagreement there !Granted. I misread the numbers in his OP. He still inherited a great situation at Illinois with multiple high school all Americans, NBA talent, and superb role players.
Complacent was probably the last thing Weber was. He tried damn hard to recreate 2005, he just struggled being able to identify and recruit players to fit into his system. It was missing out on some key recruiting battles, followed by the Jamar Smith incident, and stubbornness to stick with his offensive system when his players couldn't grasp it that caused the downfall. Complacency doesn't get you to the Sweet 16 at 3 different schools.Complacency is a losers approach. Was talking about some people on this board not BradThen Underwood should not be complacent based on embarrassing post season results
Ah, a tautologyWas talking about some people on this board not Brad
Our last one wasn’t a keeper!Let's look back at our last Bass!!

Nothings final until the season starts….I wouldn’t be shocked to see another addition@“insiders” do you expect the current roster we have now to be the final one or any other moves anticipated at this point?
Delusional confidence is they key to success. Well, at least that's what an old rich guy told me.Success breeds complacency
I had completely forgotten about Reggie Bass...Let's look him up and...oh....great:Let's look back at our last Bass!!

On a road trip with Huggy? I wouldn’t put much credence in this until they announce it themselves. Sad that (mostly) functional alcoholism robbed some young men of spending a season at a school they wanted to be at with a coach that made them feel at home.
I treat all the Brad hot seat conjecture with the premise that the AD will have a handful of interested candidates already lined up and vetted for their interest. This is my opinion exactly, give me two more years and if we haven’t gotten a sweet 16 let’s talk about coaching changes but let’s make sure the right guy’s available and interested and not fire Brad just to hire someone just as good or slightly worse
Miller and Curbelo need to solve their own problems before they can solve anyone’s point guard problems.I treat all the Brad hot seat conjecture with the premise that the AD will have a handful of interested candidates already lined up and vetted for their interest.
Also, I think the talk about the value of B10 champs vs tournament wins is missing the bigger picture.
The reason we were so desperately needing a PG in the portal this year is because of the failure to develop the roster especially at the PG position.
These are all PG/CG players who should’ve been on the roster this year with the exception of Podz, but they’re all gone. Miller, Curbelo, and Podz would’ve solved last years PG problem.
Adam Miller (33)
Andre Curbelo (47)
Brandin Podziemski (107)
Sky Clark (33)
Jaden Epps (72)
I know posters are going nitpick each of these players individually without taking a step back and ”wow, regardless of the individual circumstances this trend is a problem”.
That’s not fair to Miller who played great as a freshman, deferred to Ayo, and left because he said he wanted a coach who trusted him and would let him play combo guard.Miller and Curbelo need to solve their own problems before they can solve anyone’s point guard problems.
