Maybe unacceptable, but maybe understandable. Who knows what BU was told by RayJ camp. Getting stood up at the alter sucks - IDKWTI, Cliff, etc. BU has always seemed to have a plan B in the past. But when your guy doesn't go into the portal until the end, and then stands you up, Plan B is limited. Difficult to get a good transfer PG to come in earlier when they know you are going to be recruiting over them. Maybe that is a sign in the future - the reason someone waits is to be able to market themselves to desperate schools - maybe BU should have avoided him for that reason. Live and learn.
If nothing changes, we will definitely have a chance to find out how good of a coach BU really is.

I get that to a point … He went all chips in on a guy from Toledo … Now RayJ is a good player but let’s not act like he’s some MCDAA type player … He’d have been the third best player on this team at absolute best …

Now … Maybe it’s just me but I’m not going all chips in on anyone unless it’s a guy like Ayo …

And once we missed on RayJ … Caleb Love was available … And that’s better than any options we’ve got now … And Brad refused to explore that option and he’s doing the same with Kerr …

That’s what’s infuriating to me … I understand a little bit the miss on RayJ … Lost to a good program in Baylor … Oh well …

But to have the opportunity to rebound from that and pass ? I just don’t get it …

I want Brad to want to be here and I want Brad to succeed … I think Brad has made it clear where he stands on the first issue and the second issue he hasn’t set himself up well for … Those are just the facts …

And do I know Sean really well ? Yup … I also know Josh loves Sean … And Josh hates having to tell boosters Brad 💩 the bed on this RayJ thing despite all of their efforts while Sean has like 3 PGs who are all better than any PG we’ve got …

Oh wait … We STILL don’t have one … And that’s on Brad … Absolute failure … Unacceptable …
Tell us how you really feel.

There's still almost 5 months to figure out the PG situation. Based on what the main insiders have said, Ty could be a solid option.
What exactly is there to figure out? We don't have one. And if Brad is expecting Ty to go from no point guard skills...what he showed when he tried to play the position last year...to B1G level skills, that's just about as ridiculous as not recruiting Krissa when you've got no point guard on the roster. Is there a chance a miracle occurs and a one of our guys who've shown no propensity for being ready to play PG at B1G level develops the necessary skills? Sure. There's also a chance I'll win the lottery in the same period of time. Not reasonable to expect.

Dream job? thought that was BS at the time. Not hard to see through some of the tales he tells. The best one was him talking about he and the women's coach getting together to bounce ideas for plays .

I was just speaking of the improvements that Ty has supposedly made. PG is the gaping hole with this team. You obviously wouldn't want someone with his Freshman stats running point in crunch time. His improvements, along with the additions, still make this team better than last years! I really hope nobody has a Monster addiction

Is he waiting for Reeves? I just don’t get this.

Brad Underwood wants to be at Illinois. His agent floats his name every offseason to gain leverage, like all agents do. Whitman doesn't like it, but he has no room to talk. He threw his name into the hat for B1G commissioner job, and there were rumors that Iowa talked to him about their AD job.

I think departing for Kansas State was a realistic option for Underwood, though. Obvious history there.

Brad wants an extension every year with no post season success … And throws his name at other jobs … Every year … That’s what upsets Josh …

Brad’s agent wasn’t the one telling Del Conte Brad wanted the job …

However you’re right … His agent did push the Tang to Texas thing … Which would’ve landed Brad at K State …

Whitman getting a promotion ? To be a commissioner ? Idk how you fault a guy for that …

Iowa and MANY others have approached Whitman … He has always said no … The only thing he was interested in was commissioner … And if he got that job, I would’ve congratulated him and wished him the absolute best … Josh is a loyal dude …

IRT to RayJ Dennis, there was a strong feeling that Illinois and the Illinois collective were close to locking that down, but only when they were dealing with third parties.

Once RayJ made up his mind to come back to college basketball, entered the Portal, and started making his own decisions the dynamics completely changed. He listened to the negative recruiting, and it got tough for Illinois to read the situation.

This is not a good guy - bad guy scenario with Whitman and Underwood. Two guys who are both relentless self promoters. The only concern people should have, really, is if they get the job done.

What is the negative recruiting narrative being used?
