What this team needs is an athletically skilled 7 footer and another 6'7" wing or two. Then a couple of role players who can shoot and defend. Why would anyone else want guys like that?....but WE NEED them ;) . Not sure we have the NIL to keep a team like that intact, especially if most are out of state/country.

2025-26 roster
Guards Fears, Butler, DGL, Morretti, Harris
Forwards Johnson, Jaktys, ? ? ?
Centers Hansberry ? ?

Seemingly, there are several strong options to fill out those ?, but they will NEED a really good 3 and a really good 5. With this kind of talent on the roster, that should not be a hill that can't be climbed.

At 77, I have been waiting for an Illini NC in basketball for almost 70 years. Hope I live to see it.

The puzzle pieces are shaping up. Hope BU can find the "everyday guys" he wants to put it all together. Not easy finding elite, older talent, like Q, Harmon, and MD, ready to play just a cog in the wheel and shine when necessary. They don't need the spotlight every game, but can be counted on to do elite things when elite things are needed.
Kalkbrenner would a nice 7 foot addition

The best part of our recruiting right now? The lack of soul-crushing last-second drama. Props to BU and the staff for keying in on the guys they want and closing the deal. My heart thanks them greatly.
I feel like this staff’s ability to gauge reciprocated interest and actual likelihood of bringing them into the fold is significantly better than Groce/Weber regimes. Granted, we’re an easier sell now too.

We are easier to sell now than after an appearance in the National Championship Game!!!! Weber was a disaster!

I must have voted 30 times today for Morez. Angelo Ciaravino must be receiving a lot of votes from his high school mates, as he is now nearly 200 ahead of Morez????
Yeah, I voted a bunch and then left for a bit to see something similar.

Now I'm going to go look at video of Angelo Ciaravino to see if I should really care here.

I guess that raises an interesting question for insiders. @Indy Illini Fan, @illini0440, @LvilleILL, @sharpshot16, what's behind the decrease in recruiting drama? Better targeting of drama-free kids? NIL? Fewer leaks from the staff about kids who are targets but not likely to commit? Winning cures all?

All the above but really winning and a staff that knows how to recruit/navigate recruitments.

Coleman is great, will never play with this kid and he's on his live talking him up. Great ambassador for our program.

Yes ... Coleman is great ...

He was Jeremiah's host for his OV ... He does a really, really good job hosting recruits ...

Jeremiah has a videographer film for him ... There are quite a few episodes so feel free to go back and watch but I will include a link to the video that includes part of his visit ...

Just got home from a long day at work and this was great news to see combined with the latest rise in Butler's rankings. I believe that next year's motto should be "Embrace the Youth," especially if this year's group of vets is the team to get Underwood the deep tourney run on his resume.
Will definitely be more youth but I'd expect they pull in 3-4 veteran transfers.

Not going to be as old as the current team but will be plenty old. Sidenote: I wish Goode wpuld of just injury red shirted last season.

Boom!! Super excited about JF joining up with the talent already on board. Perhaps he can do a little recruiting himself. Future is bright.

Morez now down by about 480 votes. It has to be classmates that are voting in numbers for the Mount Carmel kid
