Hope the dancing bear finds a home where his talents can flourish because the bear can flat out score - he has made serious progress with the free throws....gonna miss him! God speed young man and thank you for your contributions to making the Illini program a Big Ten champion.

I hope he finds some place that will let him show off his handle. Between that sweet cross over and the audacity of the behind the back dribble coming up the court, I will watch all the Dain dribbling highlights that show up in the former Illini in college basketball thread next year.

Apropos your avatar and the topic at hand... Michigan fans exiled from the gleaming metropolis of college basketball elites (aka "dreary old Manhattan") to multiple years of humiliating purgatory: "Yeah... I was really getting tired of having fun all the time."

They'll get nothing and like it, mixing my Caddyshack metaphors there.

Insiders, if we’re paying bags of money for Storr and presumably Kylan… do we have enough for someone like Reynaud or some other big 5 that’s more than just a role player?

Reynaud's eligibility for NIL payment as a foreigner presumably in the US on a student visa still appears to be a question mark.

There's also just a pretty big "why us" question there, imho.

Well Maddox sure is popular (and apparently good).
He’s very good. I’d be very surprised if he’s OK being a sixth man. Starter quality player for sure, IMO. Strong guard who’s an elite shooter

I will say I think the transfer portal window opening before the current season is over is very odd and disjointed. We've already had recommits while teams are still playing their current seasons, which seems a bit unfair.

Dain announcing he's entering the portal just 36 hours after the season ends seems at the same way too early and just in time. I do hope he had the time to have an end of season talk with Brad before it all went down, but the rumors had been swirling for months as it was.

Right now this guy is a complete stranger to me.

But the first time he runs around a screen and then splashes a 3 on the move, he will become another beloved Illini to be added to the memory banks.

Welcome to the team. Thanks in advance for the memories.
He has effectively orange hair (strawberry blonde, I guess specifically). I think the fanbase will adopt him quickly.

"Doctor, Juwan punched another coach again!"

"Oh well, probably just a routine emergency."

I thought I read someone on here that he was eligible for NIL but maybe I’m wrong. I was also just kinda using him as an example since he’d been talked about recently. I’d really just like any big time 5.

These are the guys I would go after currently base on need at each position/who we have reached out to:
PG: Hill - BGSU - JR, Maddox jr _ Toledo - GR, Montgomery - Mt ST Marys - SO
SG: STORR
SF: Oweh - Oklahoma - JR, Griffeths - rutgers - SO, Colin Smith - Vandy - SO AVG 7&7 before season ending injury. With three yr left could be good wing piece
PF: Amos - NIU - JR: long athletic 3/4 that can attack and score.
C: Omoruyi - Rutgers - GR: strong long shot blocking big Illini have been missing. Wolf - Yale - JR: scoring bigman from IL avg 14&10.

Yeah I don't know about his specific situation. But student visa holders cannot be employed for pay in the US.

Potential loopholes abound, and with the basketball talent that's out there beyond our borders I suspect some clever coaches are about to go looking for them.
