Just for argument's sake, Sencire put up better numbers offensively his freshman year than Justin Harmon put up this past year as a supersenior on an Elite 8 team, and Justin played 19mpg on average this year. As well, Sencire would be our no doubt best defender and an easy All-B10 defensive team contender. He also singlehandedly won us multiple games as a freshman, and generally players improve as an upperclassman. From everything we've heard he's a great teammate and culture guy, runs on pure effort, and makes his teammates play better. While you can certainly argue his offense is limited (from what we saw of it freshman year), as a player, unless you completely devalue defense, there's no argument to be made that he wasn't impactful in his time here, and again, he did that as a true freshman. In fact, I think there are ways to get someone with his skillset 20mpg even on a B10 title contender. And if you think that's incorrect, let's look at some of the players on our past few contenders:
Great post and analysis- I think the year off made people forget how impactful he was as a freshman and how good he could become- I think he’ll have a Kendall Gill like trajectory where it starts with his defensive skill set and he rounds out his offense- he wasn’t a bad shooter, that will only get better and he will always be able to drive and finish as he gets stronger- he’ll he a significant player wherever he goes.

I understand his decision- with the transfer portal we recruited over him and he would essentially have gotten DGL minutes this year and I assume Brad was honest with him on who he plans to bring in this year- so the minutes just aren’t there for him, so I don’t blame him for going somewhere he can play- he was a good teammate and great competitor. He will be missed

Kylan Boswell update? Do insiders still think he’ll enter the portal? If not who is our answer for point guard?

You see, now, we have something worthy of investigation. If you consider a hot dog a sandwich….. isn’t a corndog essentially the same thing…. Except with a stick in it?

However, what may need more exploring is the thought…… do they make “cornbrats”?
I'm not disagreeing, I'm trying to work through this... I think I see a difference because a bun or bread or tortilla are created separately and then the fillings are added vs a hot dog that is battered and then fried as one, so a corn dog = chicken nuggets ?

Early on he was. He wasn't anymore by the time he committed.

The talent Weber went 6-12 in the Big Ten with that final year was crazy.
I don't know I guess they had some guys that were in the top 100 but after Self's guys got out I never really thought Webers teams were that talented.

Paul and Leonard were talented and Richardson was a solid college player but nobody else on that roster really jumps off the page to me.

Honestly, always felt like Webers teams in later years were just soft(Frazier was the exception).

honestly, I think we all need to eat breakfast and try this illini recruiting thing again lol
Ok, I ate breakfast and am ready to engage.

🚨Breaking Dissent🚨
AJ Storr will not don an Illini uniform

They want a pg, one of Maddox/Hill/a wing (ideally storr), and a big (could add one more guy outside of that-another depth wing if Domask does not get his waiver
Odds of the big being Cam Corhen? Too early to tell?

Would you say the top candidates for the PG role are Boswell (assuming he enters), Small, and Isaacs?

I haven't seen any of them play really, just kind of judging on reputation and box scores compared to the other guys we're targeting (Oweh, Hill, Maddox, Davis, etc.)

Good point, and nuggets are definitely not a sandwich.

What if we accidentally stumbled upon the question of our time….. What constitutes a sandwich?

Don't think small but they want a point guard, preferably a guy who like to pass and doesn't want to take 15 shots. If they land Hill/Maddox and Storr, both of those guys are score first players so you want a pg that fits there who can also shoot it. I expect our two biggest names/gets to be the wing and big

Dante Maddox or Marcus Hill? Keep in mind if you take Hill Storr becomes even more of a lock. Both really good players
I’m taking Hill if it’s a package deal with Storr- Maddox if you take Storr out of the equation simply because he’s a better 3pt shooter.

Both can score and will be impactful for us next year if we get either

I think we really need Storr - he’s the only top 20 transfer we seem to have an inside track on and he was second team all big team and would flourish here. Who cares how much it would cost in NIL - as we’ve heard, Brad will have the money to go after high impact players so he’s not preventing us from getting other good players- TSJ got 900k last year, that’s likely the going rate for Storr

That’s an ice cream sandwich.

I’m just saying. Throw icing on it and it is basically a donut.

Dessert sandwich cake.

I really hope we get Storr. He's got that NBA build and athleticism. And looking at the improvements he's made every year since high school it's likely that he'll stay on that rapid growth curve. By this time next year I think he'll be one of the very top players in college basketball and a solid first round pick. Can't pass that up even if it's just a one year rental.

I assume Maddox & Hill are more combo guards and not as much facilitators?

I don't think he would have made the difference in beating UCONN or getting a higher seed.

He got to save a year of eligibility which could be worth a lot of money for him if he develops into a good college guard.

Hoped he would stick around but the decision makes sense when you factor in the amount of talented guards coming in plus possible transfers.

Think his best move might be to transfer to a smaller program where he can play 30+ mins and develop offensively.
This and then come back the following year with Fears, Hansberry, Morez, and DGL to make a run at the natty.

Any word on where Boswell stands with staying or leaving? If he leaves, does he then become #2 priority for the staff?
