... and practice daily against one of the best starting 5s in the nation? (I have no idea whether redshirts can do that but assume he did.)
I was more interested to know why BU would allow the redshirt when he could have helped the team in some games? Just being a nice guy?

Waste of a redshirt year on a player whose defense we could’ve used this season
I don't think he would have made the difference in beating UCONN or getting a higher seed.

He got to save a year of eligibility which could be worth a lot of money for him if he develops into a good college guard.

Hoped he would stick around but the decision makes sense when you factor in the amount of talented guards coming in plus possible transfers.

Think his best move might be to transfer to a smaller program where he can play 30+ mins and develop offensively.

People that have enough money to be big donors have connections with a far different group of people than us mere commoners. They hear things that we don't. They know things that we don't. They know how to talk to other people of influence to help them come to conclusions favorable to them or their clients.

1. you're not including postseason dates in your calculation. There were two more potential conference tournament games and 6/7 NCAA tournament games that would put him under the 30% threshold.

2. Their were two COVID seasons for basketball(2019-2020 and 2020-2021). Your only example of this is Cam Spencer but Spencer played in the 2nd half of the season so he doesn't meet the criteria.
Conference tournament games only count as 1 game as per the guidlines as far as i know. I didn't see any mention in them as far as tournament games. The key words in the guidlines are scheduled games and completed games. I don't know the nuiances of that but i assume thats whats in play considering SIU played 30 or more games in both 19-20 and 21-22. So maybe those missing games is what the lawyers are counting on for the 30 percent, and IMO "scheduled" may play an important role. NCAA tourney games arent scheduled games for a school at the beginning of the season.

Exactly, he just has that spark in him that will be missed. I so wish we could keep him but he has to do what’s best for him.
Both my little dudes think Sencire is the GOAT because he plays so hard. I will always appreciate him for the impact he's had on their mindsets and making them orange and blue for life.

One thing I didn't realize is how few games some programs played that year. Makes sense I guess, the major conferences had big financial incentives to try to have a season for TV, lower down that's less true, and they probably had less resources to prevent Covid outbreaks to boot.

Domask played more games than the entire seasons for Maine, Howard, or Chicago State. Tons of teams played less than 20 in the bottom half of D1. The Ivy League didn't play at all.

See above. And feel free to see for yourself

Nonconference seasons were truncated that year. No fans, remember. We only played 26 regular season games, with one more (UT-Martin) canceled due to Covid.
It could be possible that 3 games were cancelled before the start of the season and didn't make it onto the game schedule. Maybe, considering all things that year.

I know our insiders in here are confident.
But the more I hear about Storrs mom from Illinois people makes me feel less optimistic. Also seems like a he’s close with his badger teammates. Hard to see him going to their rival but we’ll see 🤞

Can we go back to guessing which players in the final 4 are hitting the portal?

Imagine a front court of Coleman Hawkins and Grant Nelson. (Highly unlikely, I know)

This would indicate otherwise:

Mullins' brother and assistant coach will serve as the Dawgs' acting head coach as SIU prepares for its season opener Wednesday at Southeast Missouri State in Cape Girardeau.

And of course even if it were true, those would be games Domask would have been healthy for, contra the JeffJ tweet.

And even if there were 5 cancellations, it's still not enough to make 10 games less than 30% of the original schedule. There would need to be 8 cancellations.

Also, step kiddo texted me immediately after the UConn game to confirm his verbal commitment to the Illini and promise a national championship when he gets here.
Edit: some would say it's a little early at 3rd grade but he seems pretty set.
In all seriousness, I’m glad he’ll grow up seeing great Illini teams. I was born in 1999, so I pretty much missed out on
great Illini basketball until now.
