I think this is a common strawman argument that incorporates all things. A common one I hear is why should we have a US space program when we could be using that money to feed the hungry/shelter the homeless. But those two things aren't actually related and even if they were, why would they be mutually exclusive?

As to this example, we wouldn't be bringing in Storr to take Goode or Sencire's roster spot. There are open spots available and him joining the team won't effect either of them. But if we were to go after 5 or 6 transfers instead of 4 and tell Goode or Harris we prefer those transfers over them as slotted significant minute depth pieces that would effectively take their spot.

The real argument though is what you somewhat alluded to and that's how do you best build a team? And not only your starters but your bench? Do you want high level skill players on your bench that are part for part replacements of your starters or do you want to go more the skilled x-factor route where you have players who will be extremely high value in certain games and conditions but may struggle in other matchups?

In my opinion sometimes you do want to just rotate part for part talent and wear thin less talented teams down, but I also think sometimes you really need a high energy lock down defender (like Sencire) or a 3pt weapon, or a more physical bruiser down low depending on matchup. So it's a balancing act. I value a player like Sencire more whereas others may value a Harmon more, but I also think it depends on your team building philosophy.
Again, you are assuming guys are content with being bench players. Some are, making them more likely to stay. Some aren't, making the portal more appealing.

You need stars and you need guys who star in their roles. Some guys aren't happy being the latter. If coach is honest about what he sees a guy's role as, and the guy wants more, he's going to leave. You have to build your roster with this in mind. You could WANT a guy in a role, but if it's not what he wants it doesn't matter. He's gone.

With the dead period, do you expect that there will not be any verbal commits during that time ?
I don't think so, there is only one guy I could see. After the dead period though, it's going to be a very busy couple of weeks with multiple commitments. If by verbal commitments you mean guys telling the staff, there are already a couple that are at that point or very close

A forty-million dollar computer tells you you're chasing an earthquake, but you don't believe it, and you come up with this on your own?

Yes sir, skip.

So, this silent drive, what'd you call it instead? The Volcano?

Sir, the Dominant Erupt, sir.
Ah, the novel (and film) that finally made fluid mechanics sexy!

Don't think I've seen the name mentioned, but I haven't read every single page. Any chance the staff has looked at Cade Tyson? 6'7" sophomore from Belmont that shot 46% from three on 172 attempts. Rebounding stats aren't anything special, but turnover rate is low. Looks like Duke, Kentucky, and UNC might be involved.

Guys. All this "is it a sandwich" talk is good, but not up to snuff for one of the nation's top engineering schools. The only real answer is the Cube Rule:

I was just about to post this. My son and I fight over it all the time, lol!

Correct. They could land both if they want to, question is do they want to

At this stage ... I don't think so ...

They want to slow things down a bit ... See who else enters the portal ...

In the end ... If I had to bet ... Think Hill and Storr would be my bet ... For the price of Hill ... It's a no brainer IMO ... Especially because you are getting a solid role guy at minimum and it all but locks in AJ ...

Maddox is who they are after ... Especially Brad ... But if we aren't willing to close this down soon ... I think he takes another offer ...

Don't think small but they want a point guard, preferably a guy who like to pass and doesn't want to take 15 shots. If they land Hill/Maddox and Storr, both of those guys are score first players so you want a pg that fits there who can also shoot it. I expect our two biggest names/gets to be the wing and big
Is Boswell not likely then? Feel like he’d be a huge name at PG

Likely Domask waiver will get denied. So then there is AJ Storr
... he wants $1 million NIL! ???? Sounds crazy ridiculous and a precursor for team chemistry. Likely coach BU goes elsewhere for an TSjr and Domask clone.

Would be huge if Domask’s waiver is granted.

I still question whether Boswell will be worth what I’m guessing he would be seeking to fetch, given he’s a former 5 star and starter on a top 10 team. If I can get Maddux for, say, 60% of what Boswell would cost I would pull the trigger on that.

I believe we are making progress folks. And I'm sorry to interject this now. But, if you haven't had a Danny's Pittsburgh Italian Hoagie in Bethel Park, Pa, then you may need to hold your opinion on all other sammiches of any kind. Just sayin'.
D&mn! I had a meeting in Canonsburg last May and had lunch not 20 mins from there. Was back in the 'Burgh again in June. Thanks. Will put this on my list.

I stated in an earlier post if Sencire is giving a 30+mpg this season ultimatum this year, then yes, transferring would likely be in his best interest. However, if he was comfortable with 20mpg coming off the bench as Brad alluded to in his presser regarding Sencire's redshirting, I think that isn't an unreasonable ask and based on historical data point comparables in Justin and Damonte, we should be able to make it work. So I'm not disagreeing with you or even speaking on what Sencire actually is asking for or is desiring, as I do not know that. All I'm saying is for people who lament his offense or impact, and think he has little value, his freshman numbers line up well with a 20mpg player. If thatisn't what he wants and he hasn't improved on his freshman year offense, I do understand if he wants to go elsewhere. You can't do much about that as that's fully his decision. If he's ok with around 20mpg but Brad is telling him he might get appreciably less, I also understand if he would want to go elsewhere. And that in my opinion would be less on Sencire and something Brad could do about it if he wanted.

I do get the semantics in the argument of "forcing a player out/creaning" vs. a player "leaving for better opportunities on their own volition", but it's a larger gray area than I think we like to admit. For a workplace example, let's say you want a 50% raise and the company says no and you leave for a place that gives you a 50% higher starting salary. That's your choice it'sleaving on your own volition for better opportunities. But let's say your company asks you to take a voluntary 30% paycut so the company can help pay a new hire the salary you were getting before the paycut. So you find a new job.. Sure one could say you're leaving for better opportunities, but it's fairer to say you were forced out.
