Fears is...real, real good.

If he stays on trajectory, that's an NBA player. Can't wait to see what he does with Fletch too.

Not by impact. Teaching/undergraduate, sure. Research $$, nope.
Well, maybe my info is dated lol. Googled and can’t back up my statement here.

When I finished my PhD in CS and Engineering, times were different. Going in I turned Michigan down (and my beloved) for UW.

I’m having a hard time putting a finger on an innovation from Michigan

While I've never dated a redhead, I can all but imagine it would be dating a walking embodiment of Loyalty's consciousness. Insane, psychotic, bipolar, and with an endearing fierce loyalty that is addictive and makes you come back for more even though you know it's probably not the best for your health.
As a redheaded female, I resemble that remark.

I left the thread for 5 hrs, well after it dipped its toes into religious waters late this afternoon, come back now to catch up on the proceedings before bed, and I'm really torn between the following reactions. The Quiet Period abhors a vacuum, idle recruiting is the devil's workshop, etc... lol. We need a Denzel Boom badly. Or some such shiny object of diversion. Enjoy LAD, lads and ladies. I'm outtie.

I have an engineering degree from Illinois. I can't stand Michigan. I wish what you said is true, but it's not. Both engineering schools report right around $300M in annual research expenditures. They are very, very similar.
With all due respect, Michigan is not on level with the likes of Illinois or Washington, especially when asked by peer groups.

They definitely do marketing well. I even saw Ohio State on some li$t$.

I might be dated but no way does an engineering degree hood as much bang for those hiring, in my experience.

Best I could find was this…
Ranking that looks plausible lol

They may not have innovation, but unfortunately the stupid blue M on the degree is worth more than a beautiful orange I on one right now when it comes to CS at least. I only know this based on the kids all comparing internships and job offers 🤷🏼
Oh crap, was I supposed to talk about sandwiches here?

What did Fears end up with in this game? Seemed at times like the only one on AZ that belonged.

Him and Miller … The rest of that team just stood around … Ball watching … No effort defensively … Big guys that refuse to box out … It was honestly an embarrassing performance for a few of those kids … The lack of effort was ridiculous …

Game was over after 3Q … Not sure what Fears wound up with … He proved he could hang with anyone though …

As an Illinois grad with a daughter about to graduate from Michigan, yes. I can promise you they are.
And that pains me to say.
Going to be 100% honest. There really isn't much of a difference in undergraduate learning between basically any R1 university.

They aren't teaching you really anything different in accounting classes at Illinois, Kansas, or an Ivy league school. Undergraduate courses are going to be very similar and the only real difference is simply the networking aspects and some of the more prestigious names stand out a bit on a resume and can at least garner you the initial interview.

You start to see some differences at the graduate level with resource availability but even that is somewhat dependent on the individual lab and who is running it.
