They aren't teaching you really anything different in accounting classes at Illinois, Kansas, or an Ivy league school. Undergraduate courses are going to be very similar and the only real difference is simply the networking aspects and some of the more prestigious names stand out a bit on a resume and can at least garner you the initial interview.

You start to see some differences at the graduate level with resource availability but even that is somewhat dependent on the individual lab and who is running it.

To be fair, at this age I'm sure that a lot of really talented lead guards are a little sloppy with the ball. Most of the time, their talent can let them get away with things that will be punished at the D1 level. Skill development work and time in the weight room will very likely take care of those items once you get into a Big 10-type of program.

I'll have to watch some of the replay on ESPN+ this weekend (with the sound muted so I don't hear the blatant SEC pom-pom waving). Sounds like this kid has all of the potential in the world to be something pretty special.

Illinois faithful, why can’t you embrace greatness? Sometime this fans base has kind of a losers mentality. If we want to be blue bloods we need to think and act like blue bloods.

I'm all in favor of recruiting talent. But let's look at two programs to understand what it means to have a collection of highly talented individuals vs a true team.

Collection of individuals - Kentucky
Team - UConn

I get it - UConn has highly talented players. But they fit into the context of a team. Plus, they still have some very good role players who aren't stars, but they are integral and critical parts of that team. You just can't pick the most talented players, roll the ball out, and say "have at it, guys". Calipari has tried that at Kentucky.

I don't think it's a "loser mentality" or "not thinking like a blue blood" at all to think that you need very good role players and "glue guys" to build an outstanding team.
