Let’s not run off TY. Soon to be junior, and a former 4 star recruit who picked us over other big time programs. Every coach in the Country wants thst on their top 10 teams. His shooting can and will improve. 6’8” point forward who can d up and rebound. Truthfully, I like him a lot more than QG who was a good fit and similarly thought of and ranked.
WTF? I know every guy wants a couple more inches, but 6’8? He’s listed at 6’6 and we tend to be generous with our listed heights.

Ty needs to develop a shot, whether he’s playing for us or any other school. Whether he’s playing PF or PG.

What is Illinois doing to help Ty develop his shot? Assuming their message was "you're in charge of your off-season, you need to develop a shot".

The only way I see Domask succeeding in court is by breaking the 5 years to play 4 rule. Breaking that would make the current chaos of college basketball look tame. We'd have a competing pro league with players "staying in college" for a decade. I really hope I'm missing something. Otherwise this path looks extremely selfish -- attempting to ruin college sports as we know it to get a personal paycheck bigger than the one he'd get overseas.
I think the path is through there being two COVID years.

College basketball players got 1 extra year for 2019-2020 and 2020-2021. Seniors graduating in 2020 got an extra year and freshman in 2020-2021 got an extra season. Anyone playing overlapping those two seasons for 1 extra year.

I wouldn't know where to look but we're any medical redshirts handed out in 2019-2020? Because my argument for Domask would be that his freshman year 2019-2020 qualifies for is extra COVID year and his sophomore year 2020-2021 qualifies for a medical redshirt.

It seems like a weird application of the rule that other players get to play 5 years with the COVID year and people get 6 years with an injury waiver in a different season but Domask only gets 4.3 years because his injury took place in the COVID year.

"People who get paid to do this..." also took a swing and missed at Skyy Clark...and Santa Clara's people apparently swung and Hit with Podz.

There is a "new world order" of recruiting in College ball ....
.... I don't believe any team has pinned down the perfect formula yet
...I know we've learned alot through trial and error over the last few years
...and it seems with this past year team architecture, we are learning our lessons from past misses
...we did an elite job balancing transfers and HS talent.this last year.

This Ty stuff is absurd he just played 22 minutes a game on an elite-8 team and I think there is an argument that Brad should have used him more for large parts of the season. He needs to continue to improve(especially finishing), but he's a plus rebounder, incredibly versatile defender, and just a perfect glue guy. Everyone obsessing over his 3pt shooting needs to relax.

Stephon Castle is probably the 2nd most important player on UCONN and is shooting 26% from 3 and doesn't take many. Houston played 6'7 and 6'8 guys that don't shoot.

The opposing teams had their centers guard Ty because he wasn’t a offensive threat. That plugged up the lane and prevented our offense from operating at its true capacity. Yes, Illinois offense was great this year, but what is amazing is it could have been better if all 5 of our starters were a threat to score.

He'll always be a guy you don't have to guard. A team just can't do that if you expect to win.

If you are still waiting until jr. year in college to "develop a shot,", it's not going to happen,

I absolutely understand why Jase would be having second thoughts. All recruits outside the top 100 would be wise to seriously consider going down a level and getting playing time to maximize their value once they become upperclassmen. I also absolutely understand why we might be having second thoughts. Why bring in a freshman when you can bring in a 20-something with college experience? But, man, from a fan perspective, we are so thoroughly at a point where I'm not going to care till these guys are on campus and in practice. And even then, there will be more Skyys out there. You maniacs can construct your lineups now, but to say these things are fluid is a massive understatement.

Lot of smoke out there. Still trying to talk to people and see what's going on. If he's reopening, I think there is a pretty good reason as to why (and totally understandable)
I can see if we’re getting someone like Boswell who has two years left and then Fears is coming next year, that Jase would have to wait a couple of years for stater minutes and even then it would depend on who we get in the portal- so I can see his line of thinking - but right now we have plenty of guard minutes so it’s a bit odd this is coming out now

My guess is the staff is being very transparent about what we are doing this offseason to Jase.

I think this implies something to that tune is happening behind the scenes with our targets…which if losing Jase means your scenario + Storr, holy cow yes even though I like Jases game.

I did however think QG played too much after throwing up some terrible shots against UConn in the first half but coach didn’t see that he wasn’t going to do much good and continued giving him big minutes in the second half that should’ve went to TY. I cringed every time QG touched the ball knowing something ridiculous was going to happen. CH struggled big time against UConn, too. Hansberry and Dainja were much more effective in their time. It’s about impossible to turn on QG and CH, but it wasn’t even close to their night. It wasn’t TSJ’s night either, but you can’t sit a guy like him even if that outing was brutal.

Wishing we get Marcus one more year!

Tez will be in the NBA after 3 years just like Ayo. Kid is going to break the dunk record and catch a bunch of exciting oops! He’s that good!
You think Ty's shot can and will improve? We I guess it can if he literally has even has a baseline. Has he ever even attempted a 15 to 20 ft jumper as an Illini? I dont think so. Also, do you not think he is working tirelessly at getting better at it? FTs are one thing and he improved from awful to poor or fair at best. I don't want to run Ty off but to state he will be good enough to be a shooter we can count on is a stretch. I hope you are right but we must recruit over him and find a players that must be guarded outside of the basket. If we dint we are doing our opposition a favor.

This would be mind numbing. I get current players portaling based on new people being brought in, but if recruits start doing the same? Holy cow, it would be a never ending domino chain until school starts. What’s the point of committing if there is no real commitment.
