I was a former D-1 track athlete. Balancing track and a real major was pretty darn tough, despite all the resources thrown at me.
At UIUC they tried to get me to continue my cross country career there while majoring in chemistry. They said, "we sleep after practice and get up early to study, no problem!" I said, thanks but no thanks.

We can't judge Ty for two games against teams with literal aliens at the 5 spot.

I have. From his first season to today he has changed his approach with players. Expectations the same but how he goes about getting the results he expects has changed dramatically

Things will start to unfold this next week. We will have several guys on campus starting on Thursday, and a couple guys will announce they are leaving along with Jase. I expect us to start to get some commitments as early as next weekend or the following week.

Maddox, Hill, Storr, Raynaud, Oweh, Boswell, and a few others are the ones I have my eyes on
BU building a GNBA team, grown arse men. Younger unproven players can't compete, just look at Selton Miguel, I'm sure we are interested. Dudes have hit the gym.

I wonder. If Jakstys really improves, he probably will be lured away by another school. Colleges are now like minor league baseball . A player spends a year or two developing and leaves for another organization where there’s a need for his skills.
Yes. In the new order, schools like UI are AAA, looking for the best players in A or AA of lower level conferences who they can call up. And because of the 4-year scholly limit, for fans it's like rooting for a junior college team where you only have a player for one or two years.

Even the teams that remain have clear limitations. For example, last night I watched an interesting analysis video of Stephon Castle's play this year at UConn. The criticisms were: (1) not a willing three-point shooter; (2) hits at ~25% rate from 3-point range and so is often guarded by the defensive 5 who is dropping back into defensive coverage in the paint; (3) not long enough to score at the rim at a high enough rate.

I was amazed, since I thought the kid looked great yesterday versus Alabama. But from an NBA perspective, I admit that even a college freshman as talented as Castle has work to do.
So you're saying the first AND second ranked offense had the SAME issue?

My room mate was UIUC cross-country. Cra-cra committment. Even I had to get up before sun-up and ... get ready for math class? LOL

Support your room mate, his team, the U of I and even the team I really lived and died for: Fighting Illini Men's Basketball.

Oh, and my very tall classmate, EJ. And also my closest friend in college, who wrote for the DI. U of I was such a fundamental experience! Oh -- wifey was the one that drug me (yes, not English, lol) into Orange Krush. :)

Yeah, dog. Interesting, huh? College-level, B1G-level, NCAA-tourney-level basketball is thrilling and imperfect.

Every level of life is imperfect though, as we each and every one of us well know.

So what? Keep on truckin' (That is simply another way of sayin, '80s style: Every Day Guys).

I know you know that, I am just feeling preachy.

Happens all the time in sports. Look at Butler, the second there is adversity and has to earn his minutes he’s looking to leave. I wish him the best bust that’s not the type of player I want on my team. On the flip side look at a kid like Amani. He didn’t play much, was always engaged during the games. He’s bought into the process and is willing to work for his playing time.
As is DGL

If you’re nervous about the number of transfers that will play huge minutes for us this upcoming season, Dawn Staley and South Carolina just showed you can win a championship with an entirely new team from the previous year. It's a new era. Amass talent that can shoot the lights out. Rinse and repeat.
That is absolutely false. One player in the (9-person) rotation transferred in this year. Are you thinking of a different team maybe?

I am secretly glad to be retired from basketball coaching (HS, not college!). I do NOT wish to be immersed in the egomaniacal, pressure-driven, pathological rostering work that is the MOST important part of winning these days. I would have hated being slimmed by that dirty business.

I am not saying the coaches are dirty, not even our mortal enemies.
