A "backup" big man? Are you serious? That assumes Hansberry and Johnson will be impact players right out of the gate. No way I can assume that. It also assumes neither of them gets injured. Moving to the backcourt, BU has Moretti, DGL, and Butler as options. He has to find a true point guard who can shoot it consistently from deep and is strong with the ball. Or would you rather go thru another season without one? Not me. Nope, folks, you may hate the word, but this will be Brad's rebuild challenge.
Jase has de-committed

Lose Butler and keep Senicre? No good.. one can score, one cannot.. don’t care how good of a defender Sencire is.
So glad to see Loyalty get another crack at misspelling Sencire’s name…😂

Should take about a half season to pass Giorgi and make a run at the all-time record held by Bruce Weber…
or is it Webber❓

Unless you are a top 20 level player like Morez, or a project that doesn’t expect to play, I don’t see many regular freshmen committing to Underwood anymore given his use of the portal. It is what it is and we will see if this type of roster turnover each year can be successful. Getting 2 years out of Shannon may be the big outlier on this strategy as it’s rare to get guys of his level and 2 years as well
Great point, so then maybe Underwood will focus more on sophomore and junior transfers as the one and done seems somewhat chaotic.

I would have liked to see Dain motivated like he was toward the end. He obviously knew he was most likely not coming back and would need a new home. That’s what doesn’t sit well with me. There’s a reason he wasn’t playing more and it had to do with him….not BU as a lot of people have complained about! Effort is an expectation and yes he helped get us further this year but where was that all along. Had he been working like that he would have played more. We all knew he was capable. It’s up to him…..somewhere else now.
Maybe he was putting out the effort to make himself look good to other potential programs, Like pro players who try to look great just before they go into free agency.

Question as to portal recruiting timeline. I know the portal closes May 1. After that are there more dead periods for recruiting those players or pretty much open season? Also, are do dead periods mean no in-person recruiting or no contact at all?

Glad Sencire is staying! I believe he will play some valuable minutes this year. He could be starting in the future if he keeps improving like this. I for one am impressed with what I viewed on the video clip. He looks like he has put some weight on too. This is one guy I admire and will keep an eye on.

Um Nico? Why wouldn't he get another full ride?

He looked pretty good in limited minutes at times. Wasn't really strong enough to defend at the Big-10 level but I could see him dropping a level and being a very good guard. Kid is going to shoot 40%+ from 3.

Feel like he could be a West coast conference guard. Could legitimately see him transferring down and playing well for a couple of seasons at a smaller school and transferring back up to a power conference level as a RS-senior for a team looking for a guard that can shoot(could see him becoming an Ashworth from Creighton type of player).
Most likely transferring down.

I don't know how I missed the Sencire news yesterday, but saying I'm thrilled he came back is an understatement. I think you need a guy like that to win a national championship, because he's going to be your gatekeeper for playing time as he makes you accountable when you come on the court. You may have a lot of talent, but if you don't come with effort from the tip, Sencire will take those minutes. He's a leader by example and forces you to be better and to play better. We're going to be a better team with him than without him. Plus on those gamedays where you face an elite guard and need to shut theor water off, Sencire will do that. So happy he's back.

As for his tape, it's practice reel edited well, but what stands out to me was his improvement in body control and ability to take some contact. He didn't really have that last year. And even if that video contained clips of the only jumpers he made in practice all year, he looked a lot smoother in his release and more mechanically sound than in his freshman year. And if he can take people off the dribble and drive it to the hole even half as well as he did in the video, Sencire will be pushing the starters for playing time. He looked good. Really really good. So much to be excited about.

Sencire
Ty
DGL
Goode
Davis
Morez
Amani
Jakstys

Assuming Nico is going to enter the portal, this isn’t a bad start at all. Really holding out hope for a Domask return. He’d be a Preseason 1st team All American IMHO
Already very crowded with 6 rotation guys before any major transfers. I worry for Ty a bit.

Let’s pump the brakes on a practice highlight film….someone’s comparing him to TJ 🤦🏻‍♂️

Hundreds of practices….i can find 5 minutes of video where it looks like some of our guys have never played basketball before lol
Highlights are highlights. I like his shooting form with a quick release though.

Then you should have just watched the national title game where they went on and on about the defense of Castle (?) and how it won the game for him.

Low BB iq post.
Castle also scored 15 points on what is a top 10 Kenpom defense. He’s also a projected lottery pick. Comparing Castle and Sencire is not even close.

Hopefully Sencire can develop into a two dimensional player but from everything I saw his freshman year he was extremely one dimensional and didn’t value possessions at all. He was more interested in proving to the coaching staff that he could score instead of making the right play
