I do kinda wonder if at some point—or perhaps there already is, inherent NIL value to sticking around at a single program. For example, is Harris’ value more here because he stayed and the fans appreciate that and therefore develop a kind of loyalty to him as opposed to if he went somewhere else

Yes, he doesn't think it's good for a grown man to talk trash about an 18 year old kid he doesn't know, who's trying to make the right decision for himself in a constantly changing environment. He probably also knows the kid isn't actually "soft" and felt the need to stand up to the grown men who take shots at high school kids. Considering Bossi actually has a reputation as a decent guy, that seems most likely.
